Just heard a talk by leading German AI developer "Aleph Alpha" & loved the contrast vis-a-vis US companies.

Aleph Alpha: "This model is a highly capable statistics machine that does not understand context, philosophy, let alone any concept of time."

The Austrian job center "AMS" has not only built an AI chatbot for career advice, it has also built a very comprehensive demonstration of "how not to care about algorithmic bias".

Job for my daughter? Kindergarten teacher.

So, if you subscribe to Meta's no-ads model do they still track you and collect your data?

Because if yes, it is an even worse deal than I thought: Meta made roughly 5,6$ per European user per month in the past quarters but wants ~11$ AND your data in exchange for no-ads.

Why the *hell* are people I know who make ethical choices about everything - food, travel, clothes - so INCAPABLE of doing that for the tech choices they make?

For goodness sake: Threads is owned by Meta. That ALONE is reason enough to not use it. And there ARE alternatives!
