A functional country would shut Grok down permanently. Like, immediately. Right now. Last week. Whatever. Just flip the switch. Obviously.

It's an old and obvious pattern. An unpopular president - failing on the economy and losing his grip on power at home - decides to launch a war for regime change abroad.

The American people don’t want to “run” a foreign country while our leaders fail to improve life in this one.

It’s not about drugs. If it was, Trump wouldn’t have pardoned one of the largest narco traffickers in the world last month.

It’s about oil and regime change.

And they need a trial now to pretend that it isn’t. Especially to distract from his sinking under Epstein and skyrocketing healthcare costs.

I wish I had something coherent to say about what the US did last night, but my internal monologue is mostly just a stream of incoherent disbelief and profanity. The US has a long history of meddling in South and Central America, and it's never been *good*, but this is worse than most...

Obviously I'm rooting for the Seahawks, but I have to say, the 49ers black unis are pretty nice. All-black tends to be boring, to me, but they've got some nice red & gold highlights and the black background makes the color pop. (I still think the Seahawks should've worn their neon green unis). :)

I checked my book log, and I read 79 books in 2025! 25 of those were novellas. 45 were books I read for the first time, and 24 were books I re-read (some more than once during the year, ha). Lots of "comfort reads" since it was a stressful/frustrating year in general.

I went for a run this afternoon, and saw a coyote! For much of my run, I was on a path next to a currently-dry creek bed. At one point, I heard some noise, and this coyote came running along the creek bed! It went past me pretty fast, but still was very cool to see. :)

Seahawks are playing the 49ers Saturday for the division, #1 seed, and first-round playoff bye. Just heard that the 49ers are wearing their all-black unis, and I seriously want the Seahawks to bring back their head-to-toe neon green uniforms, just for the sheer contrast. :)

@claire1224.bsky.social Happy belated birthday! I've been off bsky for almost 2 weeks (just life getting extra hectic) but hope you had a lovely day, and a wonderful year to come!

Basically haven't been on bksy since the power outages (almost 2 weeks ago). I got so behind on everything in my life, and feel like I was scrambling to catch up. Not that I'm caught up now, but the things I'm behind on are less time-sensitive...

Power is back on!!! A little after 6 pm, so we went ~52 hours with no power (after 12 hours with no power spread over the 2 days before that). Definitely not what I'd recommend, particularly the weekend before Christmas. :(

We lost power for 8 hours Wednesday, a random hour Thursday evening, 6-9 am Friday, the it went out again ~2 pm Friday, and we still don't have power back. I'm at the library, taking advantage of power/heat/lights. Luckily it hasn't been *too* cold, but the house got down to ~55 degrees last night.

Sounds like there were wind gusts at the Boulder airport close to 90 mph. So yeah, definitely windy today. And apparently it's supposed to be windy again Friday (though my forecast online doesn't think so), so they may shut off power again Friday...

Strong windstorm here this afternoon/evening. The power company preemptively shut off power to much of Boulder, to reduce the risk of fires starting from downed power lines. As annoying as that is, after the devastating Marshall Fire 4 years ago, it feels like a worthwhile trade-off.

We got 8 inches of snow on Wednesday! (we can always use the moisture). One of my Mom's neighbors has a plow, and always plows her driveway for free. Another neighbor shoveled the front walk. The next day, they also dug my car out! (it's parked on the street). What a sweet thing to do!

It's great that reporting on the double tap has spotlighted the abject criminality of this Administration.

But don't forget: Venezuela is not waging war on America or Americans, and the men killed were not combatants.

The first strike was every bit as illegal as the second.

Years ago, I created a pair of holidays - Last First, and First Last. Dec 1 is Last First, the last first-day-of-the-month, and Jan 31 is First Last (the first last-day-of-the-month). The overall premise is that you can make changes in your life at any time, not just New Years Resolutions.

Well, everything was delicious, and I'm stuffed. :) But not too badly over-stuffed; I managed to dish up slightly more reasonable amounts of everything than some years. Just my Mom and I this year; bro & his family are on vacation, but hopefully we'll see them Sat or Sun.

I wish I didn’t have to share this. But the BBC has decided to censor my first Reith Lecture.

They deleted the line in which I describe Donald Trump as “the most openly corrupt president in American history.” /1

Justice is AWOL, abscondi!
She’s corrupt to the max,
Like all Trumpian hax…
If she ever had ethics … long gondi.
In normal times, it would be a major scandal for the President to direct his AG to criminally investigate his political opponents to deflect from his own involvement in a major scandal — and for the AG to immediately announce she is doing it. The Epstein scandal and cover up just got even bigger.

Well, congrats to Aaron Judge. With the season he had, he certainly was deserving of the MVP (But I just happen to think Cal Raleigh was a little *more* deserving this year) :P Oh well. I'm glad Cal won several of the player-of-the-year awards voted on by the MLB players.
