Courage, moral outrage, love and care — these are things I struggle to maintain in my mind. Other people may need to cultivate different affects.

But none of our feelings will help if they aren’t based on reality.

Truly, not trying to be doomer. If anything I think that the hope that arises out of *determination* — the capacity to fight on despite all odds — comes not from painting a falsely reassuring picture of the past and present, but by cultivating qualities that allow us to rise up and fight on.

I know it can be UNBEARABLE to hold this knowledge right now — and it’s very hard to see how to have hope in this dark — but we have to remain poised to grab the next political opportunity to turn this ship around, which we won’t be ready to do if we think THIS what we have now is “progress.”

Deeply heartening how much my 11 year old hates AI: voiceovers to YouTube vids, AI generated images and film, anything. He’s already totally attuned to it, and fucking loathes it. Hopefully an indication of its long term viability

Despite the noise, renewables keep rising now generating more electricity than coal.

@iea.org halved its US outlook, but raised India’s by 10%, putting it on track as the No. 2 growth market after China. MENA up 23%, driven by Saudi wind and solar.

I am grieving the barbarism that is going to unfurl from all this. People are going to die. Livelihoods gone. All to feed a corrupt kleptocracy.

I see every day up close how different it is from the first time around. There are no guardrails. A disaster. I’m sorry we have to live through this.

By 2025, China will likely sell over 16M EVs—more than the total US vehicle sales (~15.5M). That’s one country, single-handedly, pulling the global auto industry into the electric era—and slashing transport emissions along the way. The scale is staggering, and next are the export markets. #EVs #LFP

When I called out UK complicity in the genocide in Gaza, Wes Streeting called it “cheap”.

Now he calls it a “horror show” — as if Britain isn’t enabling Israeli genocide with arms and surveillance.

A parlour game to him. A “cheap” performance while Palestinians are massacred.

Not sure who needs to hear this, but any govt official who violates someone's constitutional rights -- and is acting outside the scope of their lawful authority -- can be PERSONALLY liable in a civil suit.

ICE officers. Cabinet members. White House staffers. Even the president.

I got laid off today, with the rest of 18F.

18F was an elite federal software shop. We made gov't websites work better, more efficiently for the American people. We saved taxpayers from getting screwed over by contractors. And were fired for it.

We made this website to tell our story:
