Disabled senior WoC, native Chicagoan, constant reader, writer for fun, has a cute dog, plenty of thoughts & opinions & I don’t do DM’s.
What’s worrisome is that Warner Bros Discovery (parent of HBO) is now in the sights of Larry Ellison, billionaire & Donald’s biggest backers. The good storytelling we got with The Pitt & other HBO series could be in jeopardy if he were to buy WBD.
Wow The Pitt had a trans character who wasn’t treated badly, just got to be a character who just happened to be trans and a small scene of doctors being professionals and updating gender on a file. Wild to see a show that just… shows professional doctors treating a trans person as a human.

“Such Sweet Sorrow”… one of the handful of Star Trek episodes that got me misty-eyed, because everyone kept each other alive until it was time for Discovery to go.
They really were a family, Pike acknowledged it & it was wonderful.
Star Trek: Discovery helped me understand that size means nothing.

Discovery is bigger, Enterprise helps them survive.

Everyone keeps each other alive.

Such sweet sorrow ROCKS xxx

I loved Star Trek: Discovery, and I had no problems with how it dealt with canon (it was nice to see Captain Christopher Pike’s resume filled in during Season 2). Yes, the tech was a bit more modern, but isn’t Starfleet supposed to experiment with new technologies?
For all of those who hated #StarTrekDiscovery

Did you let it sit? Have you watched it since?

It was new and shiny - but it has so much respect for canon! (I checked!)

I mean MAYBE the tech was a bit more modern but put that aside - they really, really care xx #StarTrek

How can the US have & honor any moral obligations when the president is an amoral, malignant, sociopathic narcissist & those within his regime share the same amorality and malignant contempt for humanity?
Last week, USAID closed its doors, 64 years after JFK cited "moral obligations as a wise leader and good neighbor in the interdependent community of free nations" in calling for the agency's creation.

Frederic Frommer reports on the irony of the dismantling—lost to no one except those in power.
JFK cited America’s ‘moral obligations’ in urging creation of USAID
'A program of assistance to the underdeveloped nations must continue because the nation's interest and the cause of political freedom require it,' President Kennedy said.

Well, we now have an answer to the question of just how monstrous can a person truly be.
Rep. Troy Nehls (R TX) was asked if he wasn't worried at all that Americans may lose their health care and he said:

"Nah, I'm not worried.
Just some Americans that aren't Americans...
We did a great job !
The American people spoke."

13.7M people may die in TX.

WOW. JUST WOW...

We’ll just have to wait & see, I guess.
I am desperate to see how audiences react to NAKED GUN. The internet straight up killed the spoof a decade and a half ago. Is there a place for this kind of movie in a post-social media age?

I have no dog in this fight - it's genuine curiosity. Can 90 minutes of absurdist comedy still work in 2025?

This is why independent media, like Meidas Touch, Ring Of Fire & Brian Tyler Cohen are so important, because they’ve consistently reported on #NoKings, #TeslaTakedown & other mass protests w/o dismissing protestors or painting them as criminals.

Gov. Pritzker took Lauren BubbleHead to church regarding what an insurrection actually is. Thank you, JB!
Boebert: What we’re seeing in LA is an insurrection

Pritzker: You don’t know understand what insurrection is. It is outrageous that you are asking that when you are the one condoning the pardoning of people that attacked police.

The irony is amazing, isn’t it(
It’s strange to watch Americans memorialize soldiers who died for democracy whilst they giddily embrace fascism.

If James Gunn could make Guardians of the Galaxy into a huge hit with six extremely well-developed characters, I have every confidence that his vision of Superman will be just as successful.
“James Gunn’s Superman has too many characters! I don’t know how he’ll pull it off.”

My favorite TNG novels were I, Q & Q-In-Law. So sorry about Mr. David’s passing & my condolences to his family.

If Obama said the kind of unhinged things Donald’s been saying, the Republicans would demand that the 25th Amendment be invoked. They won’t do it with Donald, since they’re profiting handsomely from his never-ending grift.

Donald’s tariff mania has plunged off the deepest end possible. He thinks he’s living in a reality TV show or a movie. Also, putting a tariff on services is an extremely difficult proposition, because the US is primarily a service-oriented country & filmmaking is a service.
Because movie tickets weren’t expensive enough.

Never liked HP or JKR, so I wouldn’t set foot on an elevator packed with HP cosplayers, either.
Went to Universal Fan Fest & adults in Harry Potter cosplay packed an elevator. They made room but I said “No, I don’t feel safe around people in HP outfits.” One upset said “EXCUSE ME?” as the doors closed. Wear HP merch if you want, but don’t act surprised when trans ppl don’t feel safe near you.

I’m on my second read of this book! It’s an excellent look into history & how the US got entangled into the web of fascism.
this this this!

On Wednesday I'll be in Boston interviewing Rachel Maddow at the Orpheum Theater. This is the first stop on the book tour for the paperback edition of Prequel, her excellent book on the history of US fascism in the 1930s and 40s. If you're in the area, come join us. www.msnbc.com/prequel

That’s going to be an uncomfortable & unpleasant surprise for a lot of people, so it’s not an economic “gift”.

Something is wrong with Donald’s mind, because he can’t follow the thread of questioning when he’s interviewed or gives press conferences. He speaks at a 5th grade level, so no one can hear his contradictions & he goes into meltdown over simple questions.

100% accurate… ⬇️
You know that Twilight Zone episode where the kid has amazing psychic powers and can make people disappear with his mind and the entire town is hostage to him and has to cater to his every whim? That’s us right now.

RFK Jr’s not focusing on this. He seems to think the stress Americans are experiencing because of Donald’s policies is “good” for them. Stress is sustainable if they swallow two dozen vitamin pills everyday, which benefits the “wellness” industry.
The stress level Americans are experiencing because of this administration's actions and policies is unsustainable. The Secretary of Health and Human Services, RFK Jr, should be focusing on this, not red dye #3, removing fluoride from water systems or promoting vaccine denial.

The tone-deafness of this particular appointment to the Holocaust Memorial Council is so profoundly mind-numbing & nauseating.

While being in the streets protesting is fine, we’re not taking full advantage of our economic power, which is why boycotts, divestments & depriving offending companies of our money & labor is also a highly effective means of protest.

Donald “governs” through memes, executive orders and social media posts, which is hardly considered serious, thoughtful, sane governance. This is a government made up of fascistic frat boys & trolls, which is why world leaders don’t take them seriously.

Paramount+ has never been known for making good programming decisions (looking at you, Prodigy). Lower Decks could’ve gone the “six seasons and a movie” route very easily, and Trekkies would’ve watched them.
At Universal Fan Fest last night, the two Star Trek uniforms I saw most people cosplaying were TNG uniforms, followed by Lower Decks. We even started several "LOWER DECKS" chants while walking around. It goes to show how popular Lower Decks is with Trekkies & how foolish it was to cancel it.

One odd thing I’ve noticed with this poster is that Hegseth’s left pinky finger is either covered by his jacket sleeve, or it’s completely gone. So, what’s that about?
I'd like to point out that in this whiskey-driven bit of "DOD Rapid Response" mental masturbation, the bad guys with the drugs have already gotten past Hegseth and look like they're about to shoot and he doesn't even know they're there 🥃

It takes just one overzealous, trigger happy person in uniform opens fire on nonviolent protesters or people who are trying to stop ICE from barging into a church or school. When that happens, all bets are off, especially if the incident was recorded & posted for all to see.
Civil disobedience - the refusal to obey the laws, demands, or commands of a government, without resorting to violence.
