Gillian Ahlgren will bring our course to a close by looking at Julian of Norwich as an example of spirituality and the imitation of Christ at the end of the Middle Ages, before looking at spirituality in the Reformations, focusing particularly on Teresa of Avila. /7

Tom O’Loughlin will run two sessions on Celtic spiritualities. The first looks at the concepts of sin and penitence in Celtic contexts. The second takes the Stowe Missal as an example of the influence of liturgical spirituality. /6

Julia Konstantiovsky will teach two sessions. The first looks at Evagrius Ponticus and pseudo-Dionysius and the early mystical traditions within a Patristic context. The second introduces Eastern Orthodox spirituality by focusing on Gregory Palamas. /5

Jayme Reaves will introduce how the term “spirituality” was used in various Biblical contexts, and also how key biblical texts present important issues that become foundational for Christian spirituality such as the unknowability of God and images such as God as "mother hen". /4

Happy Feast Day of St Clare of Assisi (d. 1253). Although often remembered by the title she gave herself "la pianticella" ("the little plant") of St Francis of Assisi, Clare is far more than just Francis's understudy. /1

Very pleased to have this week submitted the manuscript of "A Companion to Angela of Foligno" to Brill. I sincerely hope that the book will help to bring the scholarship on Angela in English up to date. The book contains 10 chapters, a preface and an afterword /1 (of 2)
