Zero reason to choose this date unless you're trying to confuse voters and depress Democratic turnout in Fairfax in November btw

I genuinely need every Democratic senator to start training to filibuster like @corybooker.com so we can do this every single day for the rest of this term.

Popping in from Richmond with no water to remind folks that investing and maintaining critical utility infrastructure is not wasteful government spending! On an unrelated note I've never been so excited to take a shower when I come home.

For those who were invested in this saga, the Democrats who were expected to win won, the Republican who was expected to win won. There is no change in the balance of power in Richmond, and it's only sort of one day until the start of session. 🫠
Jacki are you seriously telling me that nobody is going to know until 1 day before the start of session which party is going to be in control of either chamber

Maybe I’m the last ALXSkeeter to figure this out, but I just learned that some Alexandria residents have Arlington mailing addresses and truthfully, I haven’t thought about anything else for the last 12 hours.

The insinuation from Sec. Cummings that the Trump proposal to move federal workers out of Virginia will have negligible and perhaps even beneficial impacts is maybe the most shocking and disingenuous thing to come out of this budget proposal.

People who listen to videos very loudly in public spaces and don't bring headphones deserve to be publicly shamed. 🤬

Gave up his House seat too. What a pathetic loser. Bye.

This is the only correct opinion the court could have given, but I'm relieved to finally have this ruling 👏
Governor Youngkin’s attempt to remove Va from RGGI is illegal and therefore NULL and VOID #VaLeg

Good morning.

There are 50 days until the start of the 2025 #VaLeg session.

I hope we all feel the same level of calm, cool, and collected about this bit of information.

Queen shit from Del. Price 👸
Those against HJ1 misunderstood, believing that the bill was killed. They cheered, but it was not.

I'm sorry...rushed?? We've been working on this amendment for 5 years. Dobbs will have been in place for 3 when this comes to a vote on the floor. Women have been telling you they care about their reproductive rights for 50. If you feel rushed, you haven't been paying attention.
Del. @C_Herring to VA House GOP Leader Todd Gilbert: "I apologize if you feel this is rushed. It is not rushed. What we are seeing across the country is people dying. What we are trying to achieve here is protection." bluevirginia.us/2024/11/virg... h/t @vaplan2018

Earnest post, but: a thing I like here is it’s okay to have moments of happiness in public without being broadly scolded, and I believe that sustaining this kind of humanity will be very important as we resist fascism.

We have to sustain each other. Making joy isn’t denial, it’s how we will survive

Hi friends! It’s been a while but popping in to ask for recommendations: I have some drywall gaping that need sealing and am looking for someone local, relatively affordable, and who can come get a job done in a relatively short time frame. Any pointers in a right direction are greatly appreciated!

I know who I’m voting for, both at the ballot box and in this endorsement process, but I’m opening the other three candidates questionnaires out of sheer curiosity. I’ve only gotten through one so far and seriously…yikes.
Official YIMBY members in City of Alx should have just received an email from me (not the usual hello@yimbys email) with a form for endorsement voting

Vote by 10/16!

If you didn’t get it but think you should have, DM me

I can't come out to the polls today so my bluesky contribution today will be vote counts! 10am counts in the Democratic primary:

9,766 Total turnout w/ Absentee ( 9.67%)

If you’re in Alexandria tomorrow you need to participate in the Pride Bike ride with @msjackigarry.bsky.social and @sarahbagley.bsky.social. It was extremely fun last year and I’m excited to see the photos from this year!

Hey friends: join me & @sarahbagley.bsky.social at Alexandria's Pride Fest this Saturday June 1 for ADC's 2nd annual Pride Ride! This has been a really fun event meant to show our city's support to our LGBTQ+ community and you may even get to meet/ride along with some of our city council candidates!

Also I'm just floored at the "you're not going to out progressive me" out of one corner of his mouth and "I oppose the very minimal efforts taken to tackle the housing crisis and have no discernable policy goals to address it" out of the other

So unless he was actually in the room I would advise Jonathan Huskey not to characterize meetings city councillors had in Richmond regarding any of their priorities (I was in one of those rooms and take issue with his presentation).
