The Planetary Boundaries documentary, weak as it was as actual sci-comm, also didn’t strike me as effective propaganda.

I’d compare it with my previous weekend’s exposure to an amazing recent interview of Jane Goodall reflecting on her life (with the intent of releasing it upon her passing.)

The way this came up is that I’ve been tasked with coming up with speakers or media on “planetary boundaries.” And the content the internet immediately provides is a Netflix documentary narrated by David Attenborough. I had high hopes but it was from my perspective excruciatingly vapid.

Springer just advertised this at me. I suspect crackpottery. Is this for real? Are there any respectable publishing houses anymore?

I don’t think the public understands this. Nor do many legislators.

A key purpose of by-now-unrealistic emissions goals is to help people understand why realistic ones need considerable advance effort.

Anonymity and spoofing are key to injecting misinformation into the public sphere.

On the internet, everyone should know whether you are a dog.

High latitudes warm faster than other land areas. This was expected in advance. The result goes back as far as Charney 1979 (see excerpt below). It wasn't a secret; rather it was often communicated.

If policy people don't "widely understand" science (clearly they don't!) that's a separate issue.
