#FOFriday 🧶 Blocking. It’s a challenge to block this time of year. It’s the secondly day and it might need a third with shorter days and weaker sunshine. Can’t wait to try on my new Scarflette Deets in Alt.

#Showmetoutknits What’s on your needles? I finished my test knit and I hope to have it blocked and photos taken in 2-3 days. Today I’m as fall turns to muted stick season I’m enjoying knitting a happy yellow. Making the Peace Hat to give away to someone who needs it.

The green is on my active needles for a test knit coming soon. The socks became lingering WIPs as I worked through two test knits. They don’t qualify for the naughty basket yet. Still determined to finish them.
Lettuce green textured knit in progress lays on an iPad. Sock in progress to the heel turn. It is a natural oat color with a green Latvian braid under the cuff, dark blue field below the the braid with light stars in colorwork and green colorwork with mountain motif. The remainder is worked in the oat color with cables seen until the heel. The DK Lombard sock in progress , a really fun knit in gray and purple. The pattern creates vertical zig zag lines. The heel is turned.

I’ve got to watch how I tension w fingering weight yarn. I had to quit early last night bec it had sawed a small wound into my finger. Obvi not major but I didn’t want to get blood on my yarn. Trying to continue with a hold closer to my middle joint.
Trying to avoid the small flesh wound caused by the constant friction of tensioning the fingering weight yarn. Appt knitting. Office had nice chairs and excellent lighting. 5⭐️

#Showmeyourknits It’s cable week. I’ve shown these recently as I was knitting them, but since the Spare Rib Socks were released on Rav today it seemed appropriate. Mine are a bit thick in DK which my feet love but see the projects in sport weight. They are so graceful. #justknitting 🧶

Mid calf med-dark blue socks with red toes. The ribbing in the sock is mirrored in the gray boards. There is a cable above the ankle which divides clearly to make graceful increases for the instep. Blue sock with red toes on a black background. Unblocked photo but the lighting is helpful to see the pattern. Adore the heels in the pattern, knit in the round with no short rows. Looks amazing and superior comfort.

I always say, “🐸 as soon as you realize there’s a mistake you can’t fix or identify.” I always say I’m ruthless about it. But it has taken me longer than anticipated to #knit this far and I have a due date. But the evidence is clear. 😩 This time it IS bugging me. 🧶

Slow progress. Need > knitting time for this small gauge scarflette. Life has been getting in the way. Pic 1- 75 rows. Pic 2- 92 rows. Also when weighing my skein it was about 8gm short, so I am going to have to make it shorter. We’ll see if I get a scarf or a cravat.

23 rows. I sigh and ask Skully if this really will become a scarf. He assures me it will. I hold onto the doubt of every start of a small gauge project. Skully also chides me I’ve been using size 2 needles exclusively for 2 months solid so I should be used to this by now.

I love the red toes against the blue legs on the socks. I mean what’s more couture than hand made? Trying to show the details of the cable work in the side where clever use of increases at the angle contribute to the fine fit. Sadly iPhone still can’t photograph a lot of colors well, obliterating detail. Check out more projects for the Spare Rib Sock by Lola Roger’s (in lighter yarn) when it’s published. Blocked and drying. So many attempts to find the “just right” light for an Apple lens to capture texture and pattern. Ok, can you see it here against black and all the settings turned down super low? This is unblocked, but at least gives you some idea of design features.

So of course the landscapers decide to come with the leaf blowers while I have my blocking set out. Nooooo!
Early afternoon. Almost dry. Now covered with towels while the leaf blower goes by. I’d rather use the towels again. I washed yesterday & unused. Needs must. Early morning blocking set out. DK Into the Deep main body. Deep brick red for the toes.

If you’re confident with color work, as I suspect you are, if you can’t find what you want I’d just freehand the Ce as I went along. An example is mountains over a lake I did as a lining for a cowl.

Ugh! iPhones take terrible pictures. Attempting to show the cable detail but the lens can’t figure out the color variation in the yarn so it’s all blurred. But cute toe in red anyway. So the forethought “wedge” heel I was going to do for the first time is done. It’s pretty cool. Starts off w a place holder row but it’s knit in the round not back & forth. No short rows. The fit is sooo comfortable on the heel and instep. No tightness 🧶

I amused myself with a fit test in my test socks while waiting for the designer to see my question on a possible typo. I can do 2 more inches on the the foot b4 the toe, assuming the rest of the heel is a good fit. The instep to heel angle is comfy. Should be good.

Well, it doesn’t have cats or ghosts or spiders or bats. But 2 needles up top & 4 needles in the middle look spikey & spooky to me. #showmeyourknits I just need just need some angry googly 👀
Knit sock in blue in progress. Two needles are holding the foot stitches at the top. Below four needles are working on a forethought heel in the middle of the project between the cuff/leg and foot/instep.
