Maybe more southern influenced than east vs. west? I grew up in Philly saying "AY-pri-cot" and "app-uh-LAY-chya." I've learned that residents of the southern Appalachian states say "app-uh-LAH-chya" (and use the distinction to tell who the outsiders are), and it seems the South is for "AH-pri-cot."
