This is now my new pinned post. We all need to keep this sign fixed firmly in our minds in the days to come.
Sharing this from Lincoln County Indivisible (Maine) in case you haven’t seen Trump says he’s sending the National Guard to Chicago next. We will be on the Wiscasset Bridge 4-5pm today because EVERY DAY IS NO KINGS DAY! Hope you join Cara who wanted this shared, nobody should stand alone!

Notable that POTUS is posting a Fox News story about the USCG disabling and interdicting a vessel suspected of carrying drugs.

Demonstrates his awareness of alternatives to blowing up suspected drug boats.

And that killing people is very much a deliberate and completely unnecessary choice.

I have to turn to action: Community organizations, religious organizations, nonprofits with a fee-based National Park in their reach purchasing a number of passes for giveaway on MLK Day and especially (weather-wise) Juneteenth. And everyone boycotting fee-based parks on June 14, aka Felon's Day.
"The Donald Trump administration has changed which holidays qualify for free entrance to national parks, removing two holidays celebrating Black people and adding the president’s birthday."
National parks change prioritizes Trump birthday over days honoring Black people
Free entrance days at national parks no longer include MLK Day and Juneteenth.

A handful of people were protesting Trump on Friday a couple blocks away from the Kennedy Center in the view of those headed to the World Cup draw.

The protest happening in the shadow of the Watergate Complex might have been a bit too on the nose. But, also, maybe not.

The new National Security Strategy is a propaganda document, designed to be widely read. It is also a performative suicide. Hard to think of another great power ever abdicating its influence so quickly and so publicly. It will be worth following the reactions around the world, not just in Europe.
Trump's national security strategy is out and some of the Europe sections are shocking. "...the growing influence of patriotic European parties indeed
gives cause for great optimism."

Many other democratic countries' Supreme Courts have higher numbers of justices. For example:

Japan - 15
Norway - 20
Sweden - 16
UK - 12

France and Spain have large numbers of justices but also very different court systems from ours.

Even those with lifetime appointments seem to have age limits.

What we are watching - as U.S. citizens are dragged out of cars and illegal war is waged in the Caribbean - is the corruption of the most sacred power we give the President - the power of violence.

We are no longer a democracy if the regime can use violence without restraint.

To be clear: Our military irreparably damaged a boat. Two survivors from the attack, unarmed, waved to us in open waters. We deliberately - with malice aforethought - killed them. We targeted two unarmed, helpless people.
NEW info on shipwreck attack. It gets worse.

The 2 survivors climbed atop wreckage and waved to overhead.

"Some of the people viewing the video thought ... could have been an attempt to surrender"

Others "said the most logical explanation was ... signaling for a rescue."

This is important now and going to be more so. It's almost "bred in the bone" among some of us not to want to tinker with the Supreme Court in any way. It's been clear that the Court doesn't police its personal ethics very well, but it goes beyond that, and Democrats have to start the conversation.
