Needs a bit more verification, but if true, the Trump anti-free speech agenda has just gone up yet another notch.

Is anyone checking whether there is any market movement before each of Trump's daily massive policy changes? It seems extremely unlikely that his friends and family aren't profiting from all this flip-flopping.

Turns out that when Vance was comparing Trump to Hitler, it was meant as a compliment.
"Europe is on the brink of civilizational suicide," US Vice President Vance told Fox News. "Countries don’t control borders, restrict free speech. If Germany takes in millions more incompatible migrants, it’ll destroy itself. America can’t save it."

This is just wild.
A teacher in Idaho has been told to remove posters reading "Everyone is welcome here" - specifically because it features different skin tones. As I wrote last week, this is a global political movement that has explicitly set the goal of eradicating the very concept of equality.
West Ada teacher stands firm after she’s told to remove ‘Everyone is welcome here’ signs
Sarah Inama said she was told by administrators that her signs “don’t allow people to express differing opinions.”

It’s amazing to find out at this late date how much the rule of law depended on people simply deciding, on a voluntary, daily basis, not to break the law.

So now Musk wants to eliminate "entitlements" like social security and healthcare for the poor. In other words, safety nets.

You know what else is an entitlement? To vote. That'll be the next inconvenience to eliminate. Since his family prospered so much through apartheit, he'll be used to that.

Requires no comment.
Still underrated how insane musk is, like all day and night- from the WH- he posts stuff like "you're a traitor" at mark kelly or "be quiet small man" at the polish foreign minister or "you are committing a crime" at anyone he doesn't like and the media calls it "sparring." No, the dude is nuts!

Oh, the irony of JD Vance complaining about free speech in Europe, and not holding elections despite constant bombing, while siding with Putin in the war on Ukraine. Putin, who responds to any political opposition via kangaroo courts, gulags, falls from high windows, and deadly poison.

In response to the Trump administration, my university @univ-amu.fr is setting up a new program dedicated to welcoming American scientists wishing to pursue their work in France.

It's great that the academic community is embracing Bluesky. Mastodon was a false start but this seems to be keeping some momentum.
Scientists, academics, researchers: We’re excited to share that @altmetric.com is now tracking mentions of your research on Bluesky! 🧪
There are already many articles for which there is more attention on Bluesky than on other comparable micro-blogging sites, meaning the academic community and the general public have clearly adopted Bluesky as one of its core places to disseminate and discuss new research.

A Place of Joy.
