The Government's decision to abolish Healthwatch is hugely concerning and risks patients' voices being lost. I and many @libdems.org.uk colleagues have written to the Government to urge it to reverse the decision, and guarantee funding for independent patient advocacy services.

Last week I met little Charlie, who is living with Spinal Muscular Atrophy Type 1. With the UK lagging behind other countries in diagnosis, I spoke with Charlie’s parents about the urgent need to screen all newborns in the UK. Charlie’s smiles & cuddles made my day ❤️

Thames Water continues to waste bill payers’ money instead of investing in real solutions to fix our failing water industry. Beckton is a case in point & the Teddington TDRA is another. It’s time to clean up our water sector once & for all. Read my comments in The Guardian here:

Ming Campbell was a dedicated public servant and a true Liberal giant.

His principled leadership opposing the Iraq War was a mark of his morality, courage and wisdom.

But more than that, he was an incredibly warm and caring friend and colleague.

We will miss him terribly.
