The government is saying that violence rules. That snatching foreign leaders and territories, and shooting US citizens in their cars at point blank range, is justified. That resistance is not only futile, it is dangerous. They can say these things. But they cannot force us to believe them.

Regarding the new Presidential plaques on display at the White House, White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt told CNN "As a student of history, many were written directly by the President himself.” Yeah, right!! The phrase "a student of history" is doing a lot of work there.

Trump's mechanism to pay the troops during the shutdown is by far the most illegal budgetary action he's taken as POTUS, potentially setting the stage to break everything.
It's also needless because Congress would easily pass a troop pay bill if Johnson were willing to gavel in.

After feeling down this week following national news and the actions of the administration, I was heartened by the larger-than-expected attendance at my local No Kings protest. The energy was positive and it made me feel hopeful for our future.
