Um, ICE just coldly shot an unarmed PRIEST in the head w a pepper ball when he (and everyone around him) clearly posed no threat.

For the crime of … complaining about government policy.

Core 1A speech.

With cameras rolling, they’re sniping priests for sport.

The condescension of two-bit Attorney General Pamela Jo Bondi today underscores that the only thing this administration excels at is a complete lack of self-awareness.

I just subscribed this week, and you didn’t disappoint!

Come to think of it, JD Vance seems to be a walking, living, breathing devil’s advocate, complete with all the assholery that such an occupation entails.

“Devil’s advocate?” As in, “Before joining the DoJ under the Trump Administration, Mr./Ms. ___ ran a lucrative devil’s advocacy practice?”

Easy solution: move to the West Coast! Better yet, move to Hawaii!

Conditions in Portland have been so awful that Nick Kristof was unable to cover it without wearing a high-tech flak blazer.

Portland is a “war-ravaged” city that is “on fire,” President Trump warns. But I braved the artillery fire and militia checkpoints to bring you this video report from the front lines.

Dammit, @chrisgeidner.bsky.social, this so good that I‘m afraid I‘m going to have to support LawDork!

Oh, the horror! What are the people running from? Are they being chased by Tren de Aragua?

I wish, but the US never seems to nationalize anything any more.

The way things are going, I’m surprised that Leonard Leo isn’t yet a stop on Trump’s revenge tour. But maybe we just need to give it time.

Every time I go to the grocery store, I feel emotionally manipulated into buying produce, dairy, and whatnot. Yesterday I succumbed to that emotional manipulation by buying a tomato and a container of Greek yogurt. I don’t know how much longer I can keep this up!

If MSNBC has no audience, why does Kash Patel give a damn about the network?

It’s only a threat to liberty when Democrats do it, because, as everybody knows, they hate freedom so much that they don’t even want people to become trillionaires.

Let’s unpack this. Stone regularly bragged about having security provided by the Proud Boys, and later, Oath Keepers, both of which have been involved in multiple violent incidents and brag about regularly being armed. Standard tactics were used per policy under the circumstances.

(On this score, it’s worth noticing that Hayek was no dupe: his support for Pinochet demonstrates that, when given the choice between freedom and democracy, on the one hand, and capitalism, on the other, he preferred the latter. But, of course, Germany under Reich shows that it was ever thus.)

Somewhat related, I’ve been thinking about how many conservative commentators in the 1980s and 1990s insisted on the indispensable roles of freedom and democracy for capitalism to thrive. And now, empirical reality has caught up with them.

Just another day of the NYT exercising its first amendment rights in the service of revoking first amendment rights.

I'm appalled, frankly, that economic factors driving the segregation that they're witnessing in gifted programs don't even seem to be on the map. Childhood nutrition, housing security, economic precarity faced by the parents--why not address those areas first before dismantling the program?
