It's just maddening to see this shit happen again and again on a loop for my entire life. Same script, slightly different actors this time around.

"Defund the police" was the correct call and bare minimum in 2020 (and still is). "Abolish ICE" is the correct call today

Yall can't keep doing this thing where you dismiss the very obvious build up of an issue as harmless, smearing those calling out the obvious problem as a Cassandra or an alarmist, and then be SHOCKED when the chickens come home to roost.

We literally won't survive it.

it's the same playbook. the SAME. PLAYBOOK.

ICE is running it down because the last time "law enforcement" did, our public officials on BOTH sides of the aisle rewarded them with increased funding and apologies.

These are not isolated events. There's a direct cause and effect here

It's genuinely wild to see some people do some "at least police aren't doing THAT" when we all literally lived through 2020 and watched the police riot, beat people, and announce curfews hours before they went into effect just to manufacture scenarios to arrest protestors

can't wait to be told that these 7-9 dudes feared for their safety from a guy who they were literally beating into submission

horrific and senseless

I ended the night as the guest of queer, observant Jews who have been organizing nonstop against ICE.

Observant Muslims fed us and everyone else at protests.

An indigenous organizer spoke to us of the creator.

Every church we saw had messages of inclusion and antifascism on their marquees.

But 100 clergy members were arrested protesting ICE yesterday. The vast majority of the people arrested during the general strike were there in the name of their god or gods.

They were eventually allowed one phone call as a thanks for saving the agent’s life.

They used it to call their lawyer, who called their state representative, who ultimately got them released on the condition they tell people they were “treated kindly.”
