Tonally the film hits harder a few years down the line.

“There are still faint glimmers of civilization left in this barbaric slaughterhouse that was once known as humanity... He was one of them.” #filmsky

The last World Cup was hosted in a country that used slave Labour to build its stadiums that lead to over 6k deaths. The idea FIFA give a damn about human rights is laughable.

I think his performance in history of sound is one of the most criminally overlooked from last year, but then so many fundamentally misunderstand what the film is about with the lazy Brokeback mountain comments (ones about expression the other repression) so maybe no surprise…

I feel like Plemons was more deserving of an Oscar nod than Stone for that film.

On the bright side the films have been good though…

The last two World Cup hosts were Russia and Qatar. Why anyone imagines FIFA will give a damn about any of this is a mystery to me.

The Voice of Hind Rajab
- a harrowing plea for humanity that’s also a technically impressive example of single location shooting. 9/10 #filmsky

It’s a shame the studio fumbled the release of this so badly, lovely little film.

So I really liked this one but I think probably not quite so much (it lacks the visual and narrative audacity I think), still a lot to enjoy, the interplay between Kelson and Jimmy Crystal was superb. Also I rather enjoy that it makes the moaning about the end of Years redundant in like 2 minutes….

28 Years Later: The Bone Temple - while it lacks the audacity of it’s predecessor, Bone Temple deftly weaves together two very different narrative strands (one brutal and one philosophical) in a very satisfying way. The interplay between Kelson and Jimmy Crystal is just superb. 9/10 #filmsky

Hamnet - while at times the film would have benefited from a slightly tighter focus, Jess Buckley gives one of the performances for the ages here and the film’s coup de grâce continues this years cinematic theme of art as a healing force in a powerful and profoundly moving way. 9/10. #filmsky

To be honest no doubt the poster is designed to make people do a double take and the reaction to this thread will delight them.
