Btw, I am not often an openly, you know, *positive* person. But this is may be the thing about writing for the NYT I love most even though I’ve never had to benefit from it. They are not afraid of lawsuits. Their lawyers are small adorable bunnies but if you fight them they will nuke you
The NYT is good about this. They generally don’t settle and are happy to drag idiots into discovery and can do it because they have the resources

Did you know gov shutdowns aren’t in the Constitution, any law, or Court ruling?
They exist because of a 1980 OLC memo—a lawyer’s opinion that everyone just went along with. Before 1980, funding gaps didn’t cause shutdowns.
