Too bad it will not be video streamed for those of us not fortunate enough to live in Madison any longer. Thanks for making me miss Madison even more, ugh…

I hope you now have time to rest & relax…although I doubt you will as you always seem to be doing at least 15 things at once! Maybe find time to put together a Lego set…

Just completed the survey. Among other things I encouraged the Society to stop using X and focus more on using BlueSky. Keep up the great work RES.

Demonstrating to young people that economics has so many applications beyond money & finance is an important step in increasing the diversity of students who study economics. We desperately need to increase the diversity (gender, region, socioeconomic background, etc) of our econ students.

Sadly stories like this are probably going to become a lot more common. Notice what the article says: she did not do anything wrong, nor is she accused of doing anything g wrong, only that the ICE thought she MIGHT do something illegal. Then the agency breaks its own rules. Welcome to Trump’s USA

If I were outside the U.S. I would not come here. You never know when the meaning of “closing the border” will change dramatically. We have learned to consider the possibilities of what seemed impossible a short time ago.

Nervous Musk, Trump, Vance have all been outclassed in public arguments these last few days. Government failure, stock market crash, and dictatorial alliances are not popular. People are starting to realize that there is no truth here beyond the desire for personal wealth and power. (2/2)

His ignorance of basic economics is mind boggling. Same goes for many of his advisors and supporters. As an economist (stuck in the US...thanks Canada) who has spent the last 3.5 decades teaching economics and finance in B-schools & to policy makers, this is gut wrenching to watch.

And yet the committee passed his nomination along. We no longer have a functioning two party representative democracy here in the US. Canada please take note. Start to invest in your own start-ups. Draw closer the EU instead of the US.

An excellent comparison of FDR and Biden. FDR was able to deliver on relief, recovery, and reform. Biden could only accomplish relief. Much needs to be done in terms of tax policy, fin mkt regulation, and climate change. Today we need to learn from FDR.
