DfE & Ofsted have updated guidance on AI in education
DfE: Training modules on safe/effective AI use & policy stressing professional judgement, safeguarding, data & IP.
Ofsted: Won’t inspect AI tools, but will look schools use impact on learners.
Early adopters: The biggest risk is doing nothing.

⚠️ POOR PROXIES FOR LEARNING! Just because students are busy, engaged, or writing doesn’t mean they’re learning. Learning happens when students have to think hard! In this issue, I explore proxies for learning highlighted by @profcoe.bsky.social and what to do instead.

Curious changes to GCSE Computer Science from the DfE. #TeamCompSci
- if there are no topologies why do you still need to know about switches?
- doesn't discussion of magnetic/optical/solid-state get students to think about the the whole two-state representation thing, and why computers use binary?

Had a great day with our BA Y2 trainees—exploring digital literacy, then getting hands-on with Scratch, coding quiz games using selection (if, then, else). Lots of lightbulb moments 💡

Also… very happy that my Scratch coffee cup finally arrived! 🧡🐱☕ #ComputingEd #Scratch #ITT #TeamCompSci
