But the wine only becomes blood in spirit, not in substance. So if a vampire only drinks this their veins will fill with wine which cant be healthy.

Either we drink like a maniac without our lips touching the rim, or you facetank the sanctified chalice and play off the damage as a sunburn. But only so many times you can burn into the communion wine before they limit you to just the bread.
