Genuinely helped me break my own doom scroll on a sleep deprived Monday morning. Go full screen with sound on for maximal doom scroll breakage. Thanks, @jessigrace.bsky.social, for the injection of mental sanity into my morning!

ADHD was crippling my life. I recently started Vyvanse (stimulant) and I couldn't believe how much it helped. It, perhaps for the first time in my adult life, showed me what a normal, active brain might feel like. I was far more productive, and could truly engaged in conversations I was having.
This was one of RFK Jr.’s first orders after being sworn in.

Just an astonishing denial of science and will cause so much pain to the 45 million Americans facing mental health challenges.

I respect that medication isn’t right for everyone, but the sake of those who find benefit from psychiatric medications like stimulants—for those whom stimulants or SSRIs may have even saved their marriages, their kids, their own lives—let’s get loud and get organized. #adhd #adhdsky #mentalhealth

Having a negative self spiral born out of your frustrations of your #ADHD symptoms? We’ve all been there.

But rather than wallow in that, maybe try something different today:

1. First, acknowledge it—without judging yourself negatively for being in that place.🧵

For all my friends who may be fearing immigration action, neurodivergent or not, here’s some solid advice from Joy Reid.

In short:
1. Stay calm. You can’t strategize when you’re in a panic
2. Know your rights: aclu.org/know-your-rights/
3. Keep contact list with a lawyer on you at all times

If you’re a woman who takes medication for #ADHD, have you ever noticed your meds don’t always work consistently? You have good reason to feel that way. Talk with your friendly neighborhood ADHD coach about strategies to help you navigate hormones cycles and medication. #adhdwomen #adhdmeds
Man's Hormone cycle at the top.

Women's hormone cycle at the bottom

I talk a lot about the impact of hormones but what we need more attention on is how this is relevant to ADHD medication.

I recently learned that Wellbutrin, a nonstimulant, has the same mechanism as a lot of stimulant medications used for ADHD treatment. 🤯

Here's a cool ADHD medication classification diagram I felt compelled to make after learning about this. 🤓

Stop forcing memory into your brain—it won’t work. Listen to yourself. Inspired? Drop everything else. Bored? Switch. If you must learn something boring, the only way around that is repetition. That’s how you convince your brain that the boring thing is actually salient./11

There's some pretty cool things that are being done in science in NZ around fMRI imaging and ADHD.

If you put someone who is NT in an fMRI and make them do a somewhat simple task, their Pre-Frontal Cortex activates as you would expect.

In ADHD that doesn't happen anywhere near as much... BUT...1/
