Senator Chris Van Hollen showed true leadership this week by meeting with Kilmar Abrego Garcia, who was wrongfully deported by the Trump administration. Meanwhile, Senator Bernie Sanders and AOC continued to pack stadiums with their Fight The Oligarchy tour. More wins below.👇

To those who observe...Happy Earth Easter 420. I had to drive today, so I microdosed my mmj.

It's amazing how many delivery methods there are these days! I have 2 inhalers, 2 bottles of capsules (I always get 1 pure thc and 1 cbd:thc), a neat oral spray on top of edibles.

Awesome!
Creatures like the tardigrade blur the line between life and death, surviving in suspended animation through extreme conditions. These creatures are revealing how biology can press pause—and restart—under seemingly impossible circumstances. 🧪

I've also been getting back into old timr radio and newsreels. Been listening to The Shadow and Twilight Zone radio dramas and Johnny Dollar and the Jack Benny program.

After all, the programs are time capsules and authors like Dashiell Hammet, Ray Chandler, and John Dixon Carr wrote for the radio.

Nuclear mRNA decay is key to gene expression, impacting regulation over 25+ years. It's central to mRNA quality control! PMID:38637632, Nat Rev Genet 2024, @NatureRevGenet https://doi.org/10.1038/s41576-024-00712-2 #Medsky #Pharmsky #RNA #ASHG #ESHG 🧪
Nuclear mRNA decay: regulatory networks that control gene expression | Nature Reviews Genetics
Proper regulation of mRNA production in the nucleus is critical for the maintenance of cellular homoeostasis during adaptation to internal and environmental cues. Over the past 25 years, it has become clear that the nuclear machineries governing gene transcription, pre-mRNA processing, pre-mRNA and mRNA decay, and mRNA export to the cytoplasm are inextricably linked to control the quality and quantity of mRNAs available for translation. More recently, an ever-expanding diversity of new mechanisms by which nuclear RNA decay factors finely tune the expression of protein-encoding genes have been uncovered. Here, we review the current understanding of how mammalian cells shape their protein-encoding potential by regulating the decay of pre-mRNAs and mRNAs in the nucleus. In this Review, the authors summarize our current understanding of nuclear pre-mRNA and mRNA decay pathways. They describe how aberrantly processed mRNAs are targeted for decay in the nucleus and how this process is regula

Just checking in with a hearty "fuck you" to Elno and his First Lady, Donna Trump.

And a "maybe I should finally get out of the winter theme.

Didja know that they make cannabis capsules? I did my monthly order from the dispensary and got 2 bottles (1 THC, 1 THC:CBD). Also grabbed a "citrus mint"

It's almost Winter again, so I'd might as well keep my profile the same.

What's new with me?

Well, I knew Rotten Cheeto would win, so I'm not disappointed so much as tired. I have been enjoying watching MAGA FAFO tho. That's one silver lining.

My grand-nephew will be 7 mo on Saturday.

Man, haven't been here in a while...it's no longer Winter.

Cut myself loose from the Tweeter. Just realized one day that there was no point in staying.

I'm a great-aunt now; my niece had an adorable widdle baby boy. He's still so young, but definitely has personality! My niece is doing great.

I received a diagnosis of Cushing's Disease last Friday (March 1) and have gone from the "I TOLD YOU SO" phase to the "Okay, I've got a rare disease (though I believe it's not so much rare as underdiagnosed and underreported), so let's learn more!" phase to the "So this is my life now" phase.

I suppose after waiting so long for my invite, I should say something.

However, I cannot think of something to say other than, "Henlo. Am refugee from the Tweeter."

I'm just going to look around a bit, get the lay of the land.
