Aristochlia macrophylia (pipevine) is now flowering in the yard. These flowers give off a bad smell to attract little flies that get no nectar but by getting trapped temporarily they move pollen that sticks to their bodies from one flower to the next. It’s a host plant for pipevine swallowtails

First hummingbird I’ve seen this season in central New Jersey.
In the past I tore all old stems to the ground before realizing so many native bees use them to raise their young. Now I leave some short stem stubble especially on the goldenrods. Spotted quite a few among them today.

The native plants trees and vines are all popping. Love this time of year. Just saw my first mayapple Hummingbirds will be back in New Jersey in a couple weeks.

The bees are out and about in my yard in New Jersey. Spotted a bunch on my spicebushes. I think they are mining bees.

Looks like at least 1 peeper has ventured to my pond this spring. Hope he has friends stop by. Shut the radio off by the fire and now just enjoying nature.

Loving that I’m seeing more life in the yard everyday. Lots of native plants popping up and of course my frog 🐸 buddies chilling in the pond.

I miss the days when I would get texts from Bernie sanders asking for money. Now I can’t stop getting texts from trumps brain trust about bombing countries and teenage gossip about Europe. How do I block these people?

Was my 52nd birthday yesterday and I feel sooo old. My back has been messed up for days. From what ? Sleeping. Since when did sleeping become so dangerous ? Is this why so many die in their sleep? Anyways scheduled a chiropractic appointment and wondering when did I go from magnum 2 Higgins
