That Uvalde piece in Texas Tribune is extremely difficult stuff, but I think I blacked out with sheer rage at this. We train them their whole childhood to not make noise when their's a shooter at school. We ~train~ them. Don't they know this? Their parents do. The people who love them do.

Lawyer here: do NOT do that, it's illegal; if something can be written as one sentence, then it must be—not two (certainly not three), but one.
I just taught my 14 year old the amazing writing trick that if you have a sentence that seems really long and like you’re trying to fit a lot into it … you could write two, or even three, sentences instead.
