I find it funny the way religious texts are the only types of texts treated as having no actual meaning or message of their own and “interpretation” is seen as seen this magical alchemy that can draw whatever meaning you want out of them.

The discourse on crime/disorder in US cities is frustrating. I'm sympathetic to people put off transit by antisocial behaviour like drug use for example but much of the rhetoric is over-the-top and exaggerated. Online, you'd think all of SF is the Tenderloin, basically forcing a defensive response.
