Bristol City Council is not (yet) on Bluesky.

Please retweet this if you think that all local councils should open Bluesky accounts and use them for communicating with the public.

This will help me to make the case locally for them to get on it!

From poet, journalist and broadcaster, Ian McMillan:
“Cold shut-down libraries
And no pools for swimmers;
Food banks and clothes banks
And queues for hot dinners.
Parks with no sand pits
And rusted up swings
These are a few of #austerity’s things.”

Discussing Bluesky migration in terms of liberal flight misses the simple fact that most people use social media for fun not influence and this platform, unlike X and cruddified Facebook, doesn’t feel like you’re wading through shit to reach your friends. It’s not that deep.

I guess I just have to keep posting my paintings until somebody sees them, as I seem to be shouting into the void 😆

This is a superb analysis of housing size in England from @resi-analyst.bsky.social, debunking the myth that we've got exceptionally small (and shrinking) homes www.ft.com/content/7192...

New post just out:

Why it's so hard to get a GP appointment. (It's not for the reasons you might think).

And why the answer is key to fixing the NHS.

Spoke to George Eaton for this piece. When it comes to common ground (rather than centre ground) of public opinion - interventionist on economy, authoritarian on law/order & liberal on issues like gay rights - Starmer’s instincts do seem pretty close. www.newstatesman.com/politics/lab...
Keir Starmer has a chance to dominate the common ground
The Prime Minister is closer to voters on the economy and law and order than Nigel Farage and the Conservatives.
