anyhow, thanks to @briank.bsky.social for the invite

also, in the sort of clown-ass coincidence that seems to happen to me with alarming regularity, @putnam39.bsky.social was Pat’s high school classmate

I think it’s that my perspective on music was starting to shift—in ‘89 I was really starting to get into music and everything seemed so exciting and novel and in 2001 I was starting to lose interest because I wasn’t into garage rock revival/post-rock

but I am open to being surprised by 2001!

those are fighting words

very 1989-centric because I moved to Apple Music at the very end of the 2000 tournament
December 3, 2025 at 10:36 PM
perhaps if you are an extraterrestrial who has never heard garage rock before?
December 3, 2025 at 8:52 PM
wow this is the new iteration of two of the most overrated bands of the late 90s/early 00s, SIGN ME UP
December 3, 2025 at 8:37 PM
wait, what? first they come for my em dash and then they come for my ✨?
December 3, 2025 at 7:56 PM
2001 has some albums that I like well enough, but nothing that I love. 1989 was full of albums that I love.

it feels like an obstacle to pass on my way to 1988
