Proud queer, based in Vancouver, BC (unceded Coast Salish territory). My politics are best described as eco-left. I will definitely also be posting about pop culture and urbanism, and will certainly be engaging in general nihilism. They/them, please.
I'm planning my trip to Argentina and the way my guide book casually implies a future involving a zombie Eva Perón is pretty wild.

Like, there are photographs available to us of ice harvesting because photography coexisted with the inability to produce cold artificially.

Is it just me or is Google playing fast and loose with the definition of "security update"?

Mostly the Zipcar driver was to blame but @communauto.bsky.social's default guidance is basically to find a parking spot that doesn't exist. Has anyone ever found permit-only residential street parking by Roy Thomson Hall?? I had to call multiple times and ended up North of Queen Street.

It always amazes me that this block, in particular, has been under redevelopment since at least 2005. I remember living kitty corner to it while they were loudly doing the early demolition.

How much is the federal government spending on medicinal cannabis if the *savings* are over a billion dollars a year just from market price adjustments?

I am once again asking the Government of Canada to hire an editor, and to have a style guide, before publishing large documents.

I would settle for the finance minister picking a font and staying with it.

Someone on here once tried to convince me that electric cars were doomed to fail because no one rents electric cars and, like, I think the rental car companies have at least a little bit to do with that.

Important question: why do my light bulbs need AI? And what are these disclaimers? What constitutes irresponsible AI use IN A LIGHTBULB‽ WHAT KIND OF MISTAKES MIGHT MY LIGHTBULB MAKE‽ AND WHY DO MY LIGHTBULBS HAVE TERMS OF USE‽

ACTUALLY. I just found my previous passport application because it was in PDF, and these were the options. I selected "other" and entered my self-employment in the details section, and had no issues. That option no longer exists.

I'm renewing my passport online and apparently the Government of Canada hasn't contemplated the possibility that people might be self-employed? Like...??? That's all anyone is now, and it's not one of the choices you can make.

Given how famously bad AI is at math, it's kind of brilliant that CAPTCHAs are starting to include arithmetic now.

Okay it's bad enough they use buses to hide the plaques commemorating Japanese Internment here, but this new sign euphemising it as "the military's wartime use of Hastings Park" is pretty awful. (Even if the historic artefacts they unearthed are pretty cool).
