Proud queer, based in Vancouver, BC (unceded Coast Salish territory). My politics are best described as eco-left. I will definitely also be posting about pop culture and urbanism, and will certainly be engaging in general nihilism. They/them, please.

Welcome to new followers! Please buckle up, because my posts are complete chaos and I like it that way. There is no theme, no continuity, I'm just out here brain dumping all over the timeline.

YouTube just shuffled me a 2020 live (ish) performance of If The World Was Ending and now I'm wondering what I did to deserve this misfortune.

Starting to see people treating every public error as a sign that someone was using AI. Looking forward to reminding future youth that some people can be boneheads without *any* technological aid

Make sure you ride your speed-regulated scooter on the road with all of the [we're too chickenshit to regulate] giant pick-up trucks and SUVs. Also, we needed to make ICBC rates cheaper so fuck you if somebody hits you. We're the BC NDP. You're welcome.
E-Scooters are not toys, and there are rules and regulations regarding their use in North Vancouver. All parents and riders should refer to this helpful infographic from North Vancouver RCMP and help keep our kids and streets safe.

I decided to watch Spirited. I'm only 8 minutes in and so far they've A Christmas Carolled a Karen into being a friendly neighbourhood soccer mom and that turned the movie into a musical. They ran out of rhymes for holly jolly so they literally went with molly (like the drug). What am I watching.

Ooh the new SkyTrain is fancy.

Just got yelled at by a driver for giving side-eye while I crossed in a crosswalk after he drove his car straight at me & braked at the last minute. I'm starting to think drivers literally do not understand that driving a vehicle at a person, even if you do ultimately stop, is threatening behaviour.

Whoever decided it was okay to combine bus routes and level (train) crossings was absolutely out of their mind.

I'm hard of hearing so sometimes I mishear things and it took me like a full minute just now to realise that there is not actually a stop on the #20 bus called "Cursed Avenue."

I'm planning my trip to Argentina and the way my guide book casually implies a future involving a zombie Eva Perón is pretty wild.

Looks like their plan to boost productivity by ushering everyone back to the office in an ongoing pandemic didn't play out as expected

The Alberta government putting out a statement for Trans Day of Remembrance two days after using the Notwithstanding Clause to override trans kids rights feels like parody at this point

"Our government remains a dedicated partner of transgender Albertans.”

It's kind of amazing to me that photography preceded home refrigeration by nearly a century.

They changed the YouTube app for Google TV again and I am *not* impressed.

My work phone forces me to use the Samsung keyboard (which sucks, generally) instead of Gboard, presumably because Gboard can log keystrokes which presents a security risk. But today it repeatedly autocorrected "budgets" to "buggers" & I have to wonder if anyone did any screening of this app at all.

I've always been one of those people who gets a bunch of different credit cards for the rewards and benefits, but the more financial institutions I have dealt with, the more I want to just, like, opt out of banking and credit cards altogether. They're all awful, and they hate their customers.

The best part about banking in 2025 is that I can't reach my bank via phone or online methods, but at least I also can't reach them in person.

Is it just me or is Google playing fast and loose with the definition of "security update"?

Does the Canada Line run these weird YVR-Bridgeport trains just so they can get away with saying the airport has frequent (lol) service, even though literally nobody is going to fucking Bridgeport?

Your semi-regular reminder that the Olympic Village Elementary School site was selected in 2007, promised by the (checks notes) BCNDP to be fast tracked in 2020, and current expectation is for construction to begin in 2027.

😒
A new 605-seat elementary school is coming to #NewWestminster!

This state-of-the-art, three-storey school includes:
🧸 4 kindergarten classrooms
📘 21 elementary classrooms
🌱 Green building design cutting emissions by 93%

Construction is expected to begin in fall 2026. 🏗️

I'm visiting Hamilton for the first time in awhile. I lived here, for a couple of years, about two decades ago. It's weird to see how it's changed and how it hasn't. How so many places are still the same and how so many have no traces of what was there before.

I'm visiting my mother and she's watching all the usual cable TV shows. Literally all of them are crime and/or cop shows. Has anyone studied the impact these shows have on the public misconceptions about crime rates?
