@hedyfry.bsky.social You just posted again on X. Is there a specific reason you refuse to stop using a website that creates and distributes CSAM and non-consensual porn?

You're not even using it for crucial governmental communications, you're wishing people happy birthday. On the CSAM site.

Watch until 0:12 left. You've never seen something this amazing in a hockey game before. Sid needs to bring some of this magic to games (he does things like this in practices).

Minnesota's Abbey Murphy beats her defender with a lacrosse move, then slides it over for Bella Fanale to score

Very niche BC content: If you are in a building that has water and/or heat provided/metered by Enerpro, the BC Utilities Commission is currently reviewing whether Enerpro should be considered a public utility.

The data is in: bike infrastructure follows the logic of induced demand just as car infrastructure does. If you build it, they will come. 🚲🚲🚲
(Also fun to see a graphic from @thebikinglawyer.bsky.social in a US-based blog discussing a UK-based study.)

Confirmed: Non-Driving Infrastructure Creates 'Induced Demand,' Too — Streetsblog USA
Widening a highway to cure congestion is like losing weight by buying bigger pants — but thanks to the same principle of "induced demand," adding bike paths and train lines to cure climate actually wo...

Why doesn't Chicago (the musical) have an extended universe? The show has a full cast of colourful characters, many of whom could have done so much after the end of the show.

I posit that the Gell-Mann amnesia effect applies to ChatGPT and other LLMs. Ask ChatGPT a question about a topic where you are an expert, and you'll find yourself laughing at the obvious inaccuracies. But ask about something you know little about, and you'll nod at the answer and say, sounds right.

After a transition to new recycling collection contractors on Feb 16th, condos and apartments in Vancouver should be getting "pink bins" a few weeks afterwards for recycling soft plastics. No more carting them over to London Drugs!

The pink bin is coming February 16th. Vancouver residents will get curbside pick up for source separated soft plastics. This will be a great option to divert more locally.

This. My BlueSky keyword muting is working overtime right now, and I've been actively avoiding US news. It's a shit show, but not my clowns, not my circus.
As a self=protective measure I've had to try to reduce my US news consumption as much as possible, mostly restricted to "enough so I can know when Canada is being threatened and enough to know what to do when that happens". Otherwise it's just no sleep and no useful action on my part.

As you navigate the madness of modern life, and this moment in particular, remember that you’re not alone in how you feel.

As Vonnegut put it: “I feel and think much as you do, care about many of the things you care about, although most people do not care about them. You are not alone.”

It's always struck me as bad that we have pedestrian-actuated traffic lights in Downtown Vancouver that never turn red until the beg button is pressed. We build a six-lane road with a practically guaranteed green wave at night and then wonder why people drive so fast.

This year the BC government set the wealth test for the HOG at above $2M, while renters get income tested at around $65k (adjusted net family income) for the full tax credit and get less money than the HOG for e.g. my condo.
(Yes, this is my annual call to get rid of the HOG)
