#sharedstair

Madness that this was illegal here until last year, still illegal nationally, and that BC’s municipalities recently voted to waste energy lobbying to make it illegal again, instead of getting on and zoning for it everywhere within a reasonable stroll of a bike lane or bus stop.

4 Storey Single Stair Flats could work well in most parts of the city, but - compared to a multiplex - the consultant and code requirements might add 100k and the elevator might add 200k.

With limited parking the sale price needs to be lower.

>> Simple zoning approval is needed to make it work.

We're obsessing over these details a bit too much, but once the CoV adopts their code updates next month we'll go back to posting more built-project updates.

Anyway, here's a detail for a 6 storey single stair core with the stair, landing/hall, and elevator, with weather cover / skylights.

Brilliante video van Smartphone Free Childhood x US.

Putting an entire new spin on how kids should be resilient to stay safe online.

OK. It's going to be coming out soon because of the relentless investigations of Pam Bondi and Kash Patel, so I might as well admit it before the news breaks:

Preparing for tonight's Bend city council discussion about widening roundabouts
The "it might work for us meme" from Arrested Development. The text reads, "LOTS OF CITIES ADD LANES TO FIGHT CONGESTION. WELL DID IT WORK FOR THOSE CITIES? NO, IT NEVER DOES, I MEAN, THESE CITIES SOMEHOW DELUDE THEMSELVES INTO THINKING IT MIGHT, BUT... ...BUT IT MIGHT WORK FOR US."

Happy to distinguish messaging from practical effective policy. If saying that stuff gets good people elected, then great! Can always backtrack later and focus on the actually effective things.
neil21.bsky.social
He said “slowest” twice, so I heard “dedicated lanes” and “signal priority”, and I missed the last word.

Fair point! I was focused on two other things: politician talking with people on the bus, and the fast part.

I still disagree with you and Assemblymember Mamdani that fare-free transit will cause a higher increase in ridership than those same funds paying more drivers.
