I like buy nothing on Facebook. It was a primary reason I hadn’t left that platform.
Today is an excellent day to download the Buy Nothing app and use it to share free stuff with your community

(Ever wonder what to do with lotion you try once and hate, or where to rehome extra moving boxes with extra wear in them?

Buy Nothing is great for this. And the app means you don't need FB)

“They had the largest pay gap in the Japanese and Micronesian community and it’s weird, because if you look at people’s average income, the Japanese community here earns the highest on average and the Micronesian earns the lowest."

Why do so many women working full time in Hawaii earn less than men?
A University of Hawaii researcher and economist says the pay gap in Hawaii is even larger in higher-paying jobs.

Definitely have experienced religous trauma coded as deliverance with this phrase.
My Filipino-ness labeled demonic by yt Christianity.

“Coming Full Circle” by Leny Mendoza Strobel helped something click as to this harm.
Sometimes, it seems, that we conflate the concept of "generational curses" with systemic racism.

They are NOT the same.

Today’s read is in Olelo,l Hawaii. I read it out loud to myself and appreciated its use of a repetitive sentence structure to story tell. Definitely need to work on my speaking, reading and comprehension of Olelo.

This is a shout out to supporting indigenous languages of the land you live on.

You are allowed to feel joy.

Yes, even now.

Joy is resistance.

One of my fourth graders asked a friend if he and his family wanted to live at his house since they are scared of the cold men coming to their house.

The cold men are ICE.

Kids may not understand it all right now, but they are listening.

Here’s another binge listening with the Libby app that I have done. The farm by Joanne Ramos. I was interested in Filipino characterization.

For those who might be unaware or just getting a library card: libraries are for more than just books! Many have a Library of Things with a variety of tools & equipment you can check out. Bike pumps, sewing machines, yard games, even power drills, for hobbies & home needs. #booksky

Question:
For alt text descriptions are color descriptions valuable?

Binge listened to Patron Saints of Nothing on Libby app.

Ah the diasporic grief and adoration for cousins are invoked.

If you're looking for a place to do some work, the public library is like a coffeeshop where you don't need to buy anything and there's a lot more space and you can stay as long as you like and you don't get any coffee.
