Almost exactly an year ago, I had published Webtrotion. Webtrotion was mainly meant to be used by me, and it is still very much mainly just used by me, and no one else - and that is okay.

Wait.
Just found out that the CEO of Gumroad now works at DOGE? And that he saved up loads of money 'cause he fired everyone and replaced them with AI?
I'm leaving the platform as soon as I get my money. Jesus christ.

it's been said before but the dividing political line for me is between people who hate these fucking fascists and people who don't. whether you're a normie dem or a hard leftist, if hating these fucking people isn't core to your politics, you're useless. if it is--then yeah, we can work together.

On a mission to see a number starting with 5 on the scale this year. I hit the dreaded 80.00 in late 2023, then thankfully reached and maintained the high 60s in fall 2024. My goal is to hit the 50s by the end of this year, and then I can have peace.

Ghostty is out, and I am sad to report that it is just like other terminals, aka, it doesn't treat command line like a normal text editor (and the only terminal that seems to do that is warp).

So, someone ELI5 to me what is so special about command lines that they need to behave differently?

Always love authoring formats that don't force you into markdown, this looks awesome!
You asked for rich text, here’s something better: 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗕𝗹𝗼𝗰𝗸.

One of the major reasons I avoid screenshots generally is because of how cumbersome it is to take them. And I wish I could kinda "tear off" commands from different apps and place it onto a temporary menu bar.

I was waiting for MacOS 15.2 to include a built-in weather menu bar app, but when it didn't meet my expectations, I explored various weather menu bar apps for MacOS. 💬

Read about them here:

Last summer, I was sad about leaving Arc because I thought no one else had link previews like they did. I was wrong - while Chrome doesn't have link previews, Safari does. You can use force touch or ⌃+⌘+D while hovering over links in Safari.❕💬

Always sad that such great apps are absent on Android 😅
🎉 Thrilled to see @chroniclingapp.com win Best Watch App in the 2024 MacStories Selects awards. Such an awesome celebration of indie apps that I still can't believe I'm a part of. The accompanying episode of @appstories.macstories.net is well worth a listen too 🎧

Webtrotion now supports Umami (umami.is) for page visit tracking. All you need to do is turn umami on, add website-id and specify a self hosted URL if you want to.

While I personally do not mind Google's UA, I know a lot of people do, so here's to having options. 🥳

Is rectangle pro the only app with stash functionality? I don't care about anything else in it because I really like loop (the circle is great visual feedback for me), but it doesn't have an option to stash. Any app suggestions would be helpful 😃

Realized sometime back that Nautomate is being developed and supported again again (didn't know about the OG developer's story). Actions+Nautomate can make it so simple to do automations for @notion.com.

Does anyone know of vanilla js based library that does magic move for text? I am looking to do something similar to this - but for text diff (would also be great if it was possible to customize delete animations as strikethrough rather than remove them)

Maybe @samwho.dev or @maggieappleton.com?

RSS now shows up with content in webtrotion template. It doesn't include the fancy stuff that @jmduke.com does for buttondown (math equations to png etc), but it works to be passable enough, and I am glad for that.

Might end up adding a line that says --

This is currently beyond my budget but the two CSS lessons in here are so much fun! Absolutely enjoyed them :D
First, there’s the “Open House”. I took 4 lessons from my courses and made them totally public (no registration / email address required!).

I tried to pick a pretty diverse set of lessons, including ones with some super-practical tips and tricks, so you won’t leave empty-handed.
