🟠AI is easily the most American invention: nobody wants it, it befowls the earth to make and steals real work from other people, produces a shit product, and the only way anyone pays money for it is if they're tricked into it or forced into it
I have yet to see any evidence that there is a market for AI-generated books outside of people being tricked into thinking they are not AI-generated books. AKA, it is a project of scamming and deceiving people, and really should be treated as fraud

My first grader (a US citizen) came home from school crying because a friend from class (also a US citizen) hasn’t been coming to school because his parents (one of whom is not a citizen) are afraid of ICE.

Little kids don’t have concepts of racism and xenophobia. That has to be taught. Or imposed.
Gonzales on Liam Ramos and his family: "They're not gonna qualify for asylum. So what do you do with all the people that go through the process and do not qualify for asylum? You deport them. I understand that 5-year-old and it breaks my heart. I also think, what about that 5-year-old US citizen?"

This is the kind of coverage they keep providing. Support PBS if you like, but NPR slit its own throat, cried about how much it hurt and now they're trying to apologize to the knife.

This piece is deeply depressing and also extremely dumb?
She says she makes six figures because she pumped out hundreds of books with AI. But the books aren’t how she’s making that. She “offers a course” on how to churn out AI slop books and charges people for it.
So, a bog standard grift
fuck this lady, fuck the nyt reporter, fuck all of this. fuck amazon for introducing the KU page read model that makes this possible, fuck our tech overlords.

The moderate position on AI is that anything made with AI should be labeled as such.

Here, she describes switching pen names so, if a reader figures out it’s AI and tries to boycott the “author,” they might unknowingly pick up one of her other books
