3 of the top 4 articles on the NYT are just amplifying Trump Regime propaganda, as if they have not been proven as degenerate liars.

Better yet, disestablish all of DHS, and undo the nightmarish idiocies that we created in a panic 25 years ago. Reestablish the INS, get rid of ODNI, fix the damage from the Patriot Act, etc.
For the love of all that is decent and holy: abolish ICE

[Trump begins openly assassinating political opponents]

SCHUMER: Once again Trump is trying to distract the American people from the rising price of eggs
Schumer: "It makes you think that maybe to Trump he wants to distract the American people, as he always does, from the skyrocketing costs they are facing, from the Epstein files."

The "rule of law" part is particularly galling from a program under the direction of a person who spiked a story about the foreign gulag where never charged migrants were sent in defiance of a court order.
Incredible. CBS Evening News announces five new “simple values” — instead of their “38-page handbook” — as they roll out Tony Dokoupil is lead anchor.

One of those values is simply: “We love America and make no apologies for saying so.”

Well I’m not a politician, but also, forcing institutions to demonstrate their love of America with public declarations has the opposite of intended effect. Those declarations are trivially easy to make and the unscrupulous have long been aware of a little-known tactic called “bald-faced lying”

I also love America and believe in its stated values.

And I understand that this pronouncement lands very differently when it comes from an organization that has intentionally been overhauled in order to curry favor with a jingoistic proto-fascist who says his opponents hate the country.

As the year draws to a close, I’m signing off 2025 with a magical find!

An ancient amber bear. Carved some 10,000 years ago, it washed up on a beach at Fanø, Denmark, from a submerged Mesolithic settlement in the North Sea.

✨ Happy New Year all! ✨

Are the Tennessee election results correct?

“Montgomery County’s precinct-level results exhibit statistical signatures consistent with known forms of ballot-inflation or digital vote manipulation. These patterns warrant additional scrutiny.”

This is very sharp and hits an undercovered topic:
The Constitution guarantees your right to follow, record, protest, and notify others about the agents and what you see. These are core First Amendment rights, and DHS has clearly ordered its agents to threaten and violate those rights. cato.org/blog/dhs-pol...

This shit is just cartoonishly corrupt.

Should folklore legends have their own blue plaques in the landscape? Foster pride in local folklore. This is the only one I can find. There are are a few non-blue plaques from decades ago, of course. Morningside Hanging Stones, for e.g.
