It was amazing seeing the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta for the first time the other day. And it was a gorgeous day to walk among the balloons & watch the mass ascension. #Albuquerque #albuquerqueballoonfest #balloonfest

???

It's a video of a hot air balloon doing a splash and dash in the Rio Grande.

Seems like a bot response.

Hagan was a coal mining town in the early 1900s. The mines closed in 1939. Foundations and a few brick walls of the power plant, general store, reservoir & a few smaller buildings remain, visible from the road. Private land. No trespassing.

Bursum Road is a scenic route in Catron County; a single-lane route with occasional turnouts & roaming cows. Paved to Mogollon, becoming an unpaved, rough, single-lane road as it climbs into the Gila. In dry and favorable conditions, it's navigable. After rain, do NOT recommend.

At 650 feet above the river, The Rio Grande Gorge Bridge is the 2nd highest bridge on the U.S. Hwy System & the 5th highest bridge in the U.S. There was no funding to continue the road on the other side when it was built in the 1960s. It was nicknamed the “Bridge to Nowhere.”

The world could use a little more peace, so I decided to fly something a little special today at #BalloonFiesta. I call this tapestry the PeaceFlower.

Quarai served as the center of the Spanish Inquisition in New Mexico during the 1600s, with priests from Quarai holding leadership roles in the early stages of the process. Most of the early conflict was between the church and the crown. The mission was abandoned in the 1670s.

Last year was flawless, with no weather related cancellations. That is unusual. I hope the weather welcomes the pilots, crews, and visitors with blue skies and favorable winds!

Welcome to everyone experiencing Balloon Fiesta for the first time.
