"Wonderboy of Hollywood cinema, S.S. also shows, at the same time, superb symptoms of Freudian regression, with dollars, caca, the whole shebang."
[E.T.] Spielberg has earned the tears that some people in the audience — and not just children — shed. The tears are tokens of gratitude for the spell the picture has put on the audience. Genuinely entrancing movies are almost as rare as extraterrestrial visitors. (1982)

Sometimes, a filmmaker finds the tides shifting in critical reputation and it makes me wonder what people were watching in the first place.

Brett Ratner IS Yuli Raizman.
Say what you will about the state controlled film industries of the Soviet Union, but at least they made *good* movies.

HERCULES CONQUERS ATLANTIS or HERCULES AND THE CAPTIVE WOMEN. Either way, it's directed with actual style. Only the witless would sandwich this baby with THE PUMAMAN and THE THING THAT COULDN'T DIE.
Which MST3K movie was actually the best *movie*? Which one has the most non-ironic fans and defenders.

Danger: Diabolique comes to mind (though certainly not the best of the Diabolique films). This Island Earth as well, since they had to pick something a bit more palatable for the theatrical film.

It has come to my attention that I never shared my red-hot, searing, coruscating hatred for the TIFF Cinematheque ad they run before every screenings at the Lightbox. Vivaldi shits in your ear, while they do all that cutting lazily on beats. Cinema: match cuts and close-ups. youtu.be/ksBX19uttcQ
