For those who don't like dad jokes, I'm a discontent creator.

If we say antifa instead of antifascist, why not use antima for antimatter, antiscra for anti-scratch, antibo for antibody, etc?
Thanks for your attention to this ma.

I'm vegetarian, but I still love some Carpaccio every so often.

("Overflowing bookshelves" is a delicate way of describing countless piles of books.)

Spent my last night in Venice at La Fenice! Wonderful concert by Maestro Muti and his Orchestra Giovanile Luigi Cherubini.

Speaking of Nobel laureates, I just paid my respects to one of the greatest.

Remember that if you find Satantango too intimidating to read, you can watch the movie instead!

It is seven hours long and has about 150 shots in the whole movie.

I had the pleasure of chatting with @petipaw.bsky.social over coffee this morning. Yes, we did talk about books! It seems like we have the same allergy to ugly book covers (paging @causticcovercritic.bsky.social).

Excellent choice. I'd show you my pile, but I'm not at home. 😂

Three weeks before the Nobel announcements. Who will win the Nobel in literature this year? I think it will be either László Krasznahorkai or Gerald Murnane.

If Greta wins it, we'll never hear the end of it!

** spoiler alert **

I've been in Venice for 24h and, despite all my efforts (I even hired a gardener), still no trace of the Aspern papers. It's as if someone has burned them or something.

He mentioned the comfortable house (but not the gondola excursion) in a letter to his wife.

Rilke stayed on the second floor of this small house (painted blue at the time) facing the Giudecca canal, during his November 1907 visit to the Venice. The Pensione Romanelli was run by two sisters and, Rilke being Rilke, he rapidly declared his love to one of them, on his knees, in a gondola. 😂
