It’s a "crisis" when immigrants "take jobs away", but "innovation" when machines do. Funny.

Not sure people realize how INSANELY DRAINING data centers will be on our planet.

If you imagine data centers as their own country, they'll rank fourth in global electricity use by 2035 — outranked only by China, India, and the U.S.

Read this in @bloomberg.com👇

AI Data Centers Are Sending Power Bills Soaring
Wholesale electricity costs as much as 267% more than it did five years ago in areas near data centers. That’s being passed on to customers.

The Basic Income for the Arts Scheme is €325 a week, similar to what they gave out during the pandemic. This is how much they've deemed one needs in order to live in Ireland. So why is disability benefit only €244? Why are disabled and sick people expected to live so far below the poverty line?

They should give the flotilla the Nobel Peace Prize that Trump so desperately covets.

Greta Thunberg in Greece:

I could talk for a very, very long time about our mistreatment and abuses in our imprisonment. Trust me, but that is not the story.

Last word on Jim Gavin-the former tenant & money story was important but his lack of answer/evasion around the #womenofhonour question is more revealing for me- both of Gavin & the media. The media ran with the money, the issue of violence against women, nothing, just ignored, typical #aras25 #speirgorm

VAT is a tax on luxury items, such as eating out, drinks, hotels etc. so explain to me how a wealthy lobby group has convinced the government to hand 4.5% of this tax on the consumer (approx. €700 million) to companies such as McDonald’s and Supermacs & we are not getting utterly livid? #speirgorm

People have been able to get nominated in previous elections, those tended to have a record of doing something in the community or are known. So the process works.
It just doesn't work if you're an extremist or have no record of doing anything positive for the community. #aras25

"Every country was put on notice by the ICJ that there was a plausible risk of genocide in Gaza.. every country became obliged under the law.. not to speak fine words, to take action to prevent genocide.. that obligation was activated on 24th Jan 2024"

Today is the 47th anniversary of this clearly unimprovable photo, from a story so absurd that it shouldn’t be true, but is: the day a team of workers from British Waterways pulled the plug out of the Chesterfield Canal, and all the water emptied out
A man with a spectacular 1970s mullet, wearing big wellies and a v-neck jumper over a T-shirt, looks at camera as he stands on a boat which is itself standing on the muddy bottom of an empty canal. He is holding up an enormous wooden plug on a long chunky chain

We are receiving desperate messages of starvation from #Gaza, including from our colleagues.

Food prices have increased 40 fold.

UNRWA has enough food for the entire population for over three months, stockpiled just outside Gaza.

Lift the siege and let aid in safely and at scale.

Not a single negative can be attributed to this bill. Not a single cis person has had their lives impacted by this bill.

It has only helped to make life that little bit easier for trans folk & hopefully contributed somewhat to better acceptance.

Especially considering terf island next door.

Ten years ago, on this day 15 July, the Irish Oireachtas passed the Gender Recognition Act 2015 (An tAcht um Inscne a Aithint, 2015).
It was a piece of legislation that allowed me to live my life authentically & I'm forever grateful.
Despite what others may have you believe, the sky did not fall in.

Last semester, I had the opportunity to take a class on costume design in fantasy, sci-fi, and supernatural film and television. And for my final project, I chose to analyze the costumes in Jem and The Holograms! ✨
4 members of Jem and the Holograms from left to right: Aja, Jem, Kimber, Shana. Aja and Shana are playing guitar. Kimber is playing keytar, and Jem is singing into microphone. Aja has blue hair and wears a pink shirt and purple miniskirt. Jem has pink hair and wears a pink minidress with fringes belt. Kimber has red hair and wears blue capris, white blazer, and pink blouse underneath with cuffs that peek through end of sleeves. Shana has purple Afro and wears purple dress with silver blazer on top. The background is yellow, orange, purple color gradient. Jem logo is in bottom left corner.

Worth reminding people that our 2023 landscape mapping of the Irish mis/disinfo ecosystem found that Gript is (by far) the outlet of choice for conspiracy theorists, racists and science deniers. Do you think this is because they uphold the standards & ethics of journalism? (Spoiler:it is not)
Table showing most shared media organisations per topic within the Irish mis- and disinformation ecosystem with Gript garnering more than double the shares than the next leading outlet (Irish Times)

WHO’s emergencies director, Mike Ryan, sounds the alarm on Israel’s ongoing genocide operation in Gaza. Netanyahu has turned the strip into an open air concentration camp and is deliberately starving civilians.

Essentially *all* research and expert assessments show that this does not work. It will not counter Farage, but literally push votes towards Reform.

It genuinely is impossible to overstate how profoundly stupid and strategically illiterate this decision is.

You cannot out-Reform Reform.
