The woman killed by ICE today was a poet. She won the 2020 Academy of American Poets, University & College Poetry Prize at Old Dominion University.

(And this is Renee from confirmed socials- a photo of a different woman with red lipstick is going around, but that was a classmate.)

Murder. It was state-sanctioned murder.

Do not try to "soften the tone" or "turn the temp down".

A mother was murdered by ICE thugs and her child has been left orphaned.

I got the final cover design for my upcoming book, “Harmony for Composers and Arrangers,” which will be published later this year by Oxford University Press. This has been a *long* process and I am thrilled that I can see the publication date from here.

My goal for 2026 is to be more like @msrachelforlittles.bsky.social

I want to be strong, gentle, smart, kind, righteous, loving, humane, and all the other phenomenal qualities she displays in moments both large and small.

I open the NYT every morning and it’s never the news I want. Maybe today will be the day.

When you actually get under the hood and listen closely to AI generated music you realize that it doesn’t understand anything about music. The voice leading is shit, the chords have wrong notes, the bass lines don’t match the chords, etc., etc., and it sounds awful. What’s not to love?

"If the U.S. military operation is not an armed conflict of any kind, these orders to kill helpless civilians clinging to the wreckage of a vessel our military destroyed would subject everyone from SECDEF down to the individual who pulled the trigger to prosecution under U.S. law for murder."
Here are US military lawyers stating clearly that Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth's "kill everybody" orders are either (1) war crimes or (2) murder.

Either way, expect prosecutions in the future.

This is wild!
BASH: We have seen these attacks from the president at other people. It's not new. And I haven't heard you speak out about it until it was directed at you.

MARJORIE TAYLOR GREENE: I think that's fair criticism. And I would like to say, humbly, I'm sorry for taking part in the toxic politics.

The average SNAP benefit per month is $177 a person.

The average ACA benefit per month is up to $550 a person.

People want us to hold the line for a reason. This is not a matter of appealing to a base. It’s about people’s lives.

And working people want leaders whose word means something to them.

Ok, here is why this Alt is pissed off.

They got a promise, pinky swear, from the GOP (known liars) on a vote 40 days from now on the subsidies. After the subsidies have expired, after the rates are locked.

40 day from now, meaning there isn't going to be any ACA help for 2026.

Tonight’s Senate vote on the federal government shutdown should have been a time for strength.

Instead we saw capitulation and a betrayal of working Americans.

The American people need more from their leaders.

Standing up to a tyrant - who is willing to impose pain as leverage to compel loyalty or acquiescence - is hard. You can convince yourself that yielding stops the pain and brings you back to "normal".

But there is no "normal". Submission emboldens the tyrant. The threat grows.
