A personal favourite for the artist / designer in your life:

Typeset in the Future:
blog.fontspring.com/2021/11/type...

Not just a great analysis of typography, but packed with cool details about the films covered. Surprisingly delightful and readable for a book about fonts.
Book Review: Typeset in the Future
IN A WORLD where fonts in movies go unnoticed, one man is on a mission to inform the galaxy of the importance of typography. His name is Dave Addey, and he’s got what it takes to make stellar conte…

OK, so I'm starting to plan Christmas.

What are the most beautiful Space / Astro / Sci-fi books around at the moment?

And yes, I am also buying for myself!

@thespaceshipper.com - any recommendations?

New #crowdfund for #embroidered #patches. These designs have lived as posters for years and were recently converted to enamel pins. Now they're making the leap to patches. Back the campaign and if we hit our goals, we'll add four more designs to the set. www.backerkit.com/c/projects/c...

I promised elsewhere I'd try an image with a small subject instead of filling the frame with moy model.

This is the result!

Processing Astro data is like artwork… eventually you develop your own personal style…

Mine is a bit like being punched the face by a rainbow. 😂

😂 look, Life can be incredibly stressful at times so it’s nice to have a pop of colour to bring a bit of joy to life.

My latest cartoon for @newscientist.com
p.s. My new book of science cartoons 'Physics for Cats' is out this week. Details at www.tomgauld.com
Panel 1
A figure stands at a lectern
"This image illustrates my theory that, presented with a sufficient quantity of intricate formulae, overcomplicated diagrams and impenetrable acronyms, an audience will agree with almost anything."
The screen is completely packed with such things

Panel 2,3,4,5.
Four audience members say enthusiastically: "My thoughts exactly!", "Hear, hear!", "I quite agree!" and "Excellent point!"

Two old "Vue" renders of mine.
The software was a mix of the brilliant and the infuriating, but it was REALLY good at atmospheric effects and lighting.

I've had a couple of test prints done on heavy PVC, 1.4m x 1m

Colours are slightly washed out compared to what I expected, but not much.

Note the mug for scale!

Yes. But - 1 to 3 metres is an asteroid?

If it fits in the back of a truck, it's a rock to my mind...

Similar to how anything they can get a rough orbit for around a planet is called a moon.

I really don't understand why AI is so awful at text. All 3 versions are awful!

Even when it's really clear, as in this case.
I would have guessed it was a well defined small problem!

Bluesky vs X…

So I shared the same post on my X account and even though I have 194k followers I had less intersection than here with only 5k followers.

Trying to share the beauty of the cosmos in a perpetual dumpster fire environment is tough!

Thanks to all at bluesky, you guys rock x

Behold the Eastern Veil Nebula, a haunting supernova remnant that lit up the skies over 10,000 years ago!

It took a month to capture using our little amateur telescope under the clear Texas skies.
