The best take on the game awards and the industry at large that you’ll read.

Seen a lot of great discourse about giving up music streaming, I think it’s equally important to find a way to discover new music that is not an algorithm. For me, that’s blogs and music writing. I promise someone is writing about your favorite genre all the time.

Seems like I should pick up Ace Combat 7 for $5 in preparation for 8, judging by the reception on here

The best piece I’ve read on this…unique game so far. Didn’t quite make my top 10 due to its sheer size but I really enjoyed the routes I played!
Finally, The Kotaku Review for Hundred Line. I spent much of it reflecting on how its incredible ambition makes it nearly impossible to recommend without caveats. But it's one of the most important games of 2025, and a testament to the power of making something for yourself without compromise.

One of 2025’s most important games is one you probably haven’t heard about

✨ new video! ✨

silksong is a game obsessed with faith. abstractions, literal depictions, corruptions of faith — it's all there. most important though is silksong's faith in its players, and the lengths it goes through to help us find strength within ourselves.

Four very good reviews here that all have totally different reads, but all feel like they’re in conversation with one another. Extremely healthy and GOOD.

‘Horses,’ the Most Controversial Game of the Year, Doesn’t Live Up to the Hype
First it was banned. Then its sales blew up. But “Horses” fails to meet the lofty goals of its own ideas.

Breaks my heart to say but, I’m finding Metroid Prime 4 to be a completely soulless experience. When I’m in, I can recognize the outstanding art direction and sound design, and gameplay I’ve loved for years, but as soon as I turn it off, I couldn’t tell you a single thing about it.

Just rolled credits on Horses and didn't immediately burst into flame. It's a heavy work for sure, but it's a good game that has something meaningful to say.

Getting stuck causes players to explore the world.

Dying causes players to think about what they're doing.

An "impossible" situation causes players to learn how the game works and eventually achieve the impossible.

We need to be able to design *some* games around these fundamental ideas.
