First-past-the-post systems are vicious, tactical voting essential.

People we need to stop splitting the cockatoo vote and unite behind the Baudin's otherwise the tawnies are going to run away with it.

CHATGPT: I understand where you're coming from. You worked really hard to get here, and now it's time to enjoy the fruit of your labors.

“I found ‘One Battle After Another’ in 4DX to be slightly more suspenseful and slightly less funny than the other versions — when Bob (Leonardo DiCaprio) jumps out of a moving car ‘like Tom Cruise,’ it’s scarier in 4DX because the audience’s own chairs threaten to catapult them through the air.”

We compare Paul Thomas Anderson's latest masterpiece in VistaVision, 70mm IMAX, digital IMAX, regular 70mm, DCP and 4DX to see which is best.

Henceforth the red robes will only be worn as an away kit when the Canadian Supreme Court is playing the US one.

Tragic news from Canada where the Canadian Supreme Court has gone from the official dress on the left to the one on the right
Canadian Supreme court. Everyone is dressed in bright red wooly gowns, with a beige trim. It looks sort of like a Santa robe The Canadian Supreme court. Everyone is dressed in black gowns with a bright white kravat, and two thin red vertical lines on the side of the robe

I'm voting Baudin's cockatoo, for the beauty, the precarity, the memorable call that soundtracked my childhood, and also the remarkable life of its namesake.

Nick I’m a big fan of your journalism - BUT - extrapolating from one politics column, about how australia is perceived overseas, that the Guardian is somehow delinquent in our critique of Labor’s climate policy is absurd! I could point you to many analyses making all the points you wish we’d made.
nickdmiller.bsky.social
Rather disappointing article from the usually excellent Nick. Spends an inordinate amount of time focused on one Guardian politics column, claims this shows we’re shirking proper analysis of Labor’s climate target, fails to point out we did plenty. Eg www.theguardian.com/australia-ne...
Albanese’s Oprah-style emissions target aims to please almost everyone but risks falling short on climate action
The prime minister has a stonking majority and a progressive crossbench that wants deeper cuts. So what has happened to lower the goal?

I find this graph fascinating. There is some strange vibe that makes these numbers move in parallel: the nation becoming more or less interested in Australia's winter sports grand finals, regardless of code or which teams are playing. WHYYYY? ( not weather, games in different cities a week apart)

Trying to work out why the US senate requires a supermajority vote to pass the budget and the whole system is an utter incomprehensible mess and it's frankly remarkable they're able to pass any laws at all. In a country that prides itself on its constitution. ccf.georgetown.edu/2021/01/25/s...
