From family comes community, from community comes change
Our struggles are real for too many these days
Together we will choose abundance over scarcity
As One County we rise from this moment to prosperity

The kids were all nestled in their comfy little beds
Dreaming of gumdrops, six seven and keds
The grown ups are snuggled with a little something warm
Finally with the time to rest from working so hard

The Baltimore Banner recently reported on this issue — further underscoring how urgent it has become. Read more here:

Baltimore County teachers want the right to strike
Maryland law prevents teachers from striking, but educators want that to change.

I’m grateful to Baltimore County House Delegation Chair Delegate Eric Ebersole, a former teacher himself, for pushing this issue forward and for his work to introduce legislation in the 2026 legislative session. He understands that fair negotiations require accountability on both sides.

Negotiations without real leverage too often leave teachers carrying that burden — and we’ve seen exactly how that plays out.

When contractual agreements are negotiated and signed but not honored, like what happened, etc. etc., it erodes trust — not just at the bargaining table, but across the entire system.

I’ve served as Vice Chair of the Baltimore County Board of Education, and I’m also an attorney — the only one in this race for County Executive.

I’m excited about the opportunity for Baltimore County to deepen our partnership with Living Classrooms—giving more students the chance to experience the richness of the Baltimore region and its history. There’s a lot we can build together.

I’m proud to stand with him on the issues that matter to Baltimore County, and even prouder to call him a friend. Nights like this remind me why the work—and the relationships—matter.

Charles has become the conscience of the Maryland Senate. He has a way of blending history with the choices we face today, reminding us that policy isn’t abstract—it shapes real lives. He never shies away from telling the full story or pushing us to confront the systems that still hold people back.

So celebrate fully with family and friends,
Then join us after — this is where change begins.
The values we share don’t stop at the tree;
They show up in action. With you. With me.

On December 27, while the season’s still here,
We’ll knock doors and make calls — neighbor to neighbor, peer to peer.
Because Baltimore County should work for everyone —
More affordable, inclusive, modern. One County. One.

Thank you, Sharonda, and thank you to the St. Stephen AME community for your warmth, grace, and continued work.

What stayed with me most is how St. Stephens AME Church shows up beyond Sunday mornings—supporting families in Essex and across the East Side, and being a steady presence when times are hard. That kind of active, grounded faith matters.
