Today we said goodbye to Sam. 2009-2025
Sam delighted in fresh air from an open window & the small patch of sunlight that would slowly slide across the floor. He demanded scritches while eating. We absolutely loved him every. single. day. Our lives were made better by Sam sharing his with us.

The working week had been getting steadily shorter since the industrial revolution - until Thatcher and the neoliberals threw that trend into reverse - so this is welcome and long overdue. There nothing sacrosanct about 5 days. More need to follow.

The working week had been getting steadily shorter since the industrial revolution - until Thatcher and the neoliberals threw that trend into reverse - so this is welcome and long overdue. There nothing sacrosanct about 5 days. More need to follow.

In honor of International Holocaust Remembrance Day, resharing a poem I wrote (published in Jet Fuel Review) for my grandmother’s family, all of whom were murdered in the Holocaust. She was the only one who got out. She’s the young woman sitting above the man with the long beard.

What is it with the creepy trans phobic fixation on lavatories and underwear? And I’ll bet some of them got a real buzz out of carrying out these ‘breast exams’.Trans people just want to get on & live their lives -yes, trans prisoners too -without these deliberately degrading intrusions.
"Earlier this fall, Florida officials ordered transgender women in the state’s prisons to submit to breast exams...Prison medical staff ranked the women’s breast size using a scale designed for adolescents. Those whose breasts were deemed big enough were allowed to keep their bras."

With new restrictions on gender-affirming care, prisons confiscate underwear from trans people and compel them to cut their hair.
