That's what the ops tell me. They're just not a great place to work for. Until they change culture, were stuck with this.

It's another symptom of CTA's bad middle mgmt., the ones responsible for the variables (dispatching, headway management, attendance enforcement) that make or break a system.

This is data isn't as recent but in the mid 2020s, its clear this is not a career position as it once used to be (and as CTA bills it); many operators are new. For years to come, this going to be a leading indicator on how workplace culture (well established as poor)

CTA train operator tenure is remarkably low as of today. 53% of ops have been with CTA for < 4 years. This data visualizes how poor internal culture (well known to be poor) is causing high turnover rates and the effect of pandemic-related retirements.
