I watch this bot every day and if we added just one more reactor, we'd be on a fully nuclear grid 95+% of the time...

By me this week - the happiest thing I've got to report of late, with a glorious trip over the summer to Montreal

I find it more likely that City dwellers are more familiar with suburban town names than suburbans are with city neighborhood names mostly because everyone has to take a trip to the suburbs every so often, but not everyone has to take a trip to the city

The midwest way to name a town is two nouns stuck together — they don't have to be related.

This is the most accurate depiction of the Midwest to date. Wichita has always felt like the last Midwest city while also being the first plains city.

Journalists need to stop presenting DBE as a local initiative, it was a federal requirement for grant funding until quite literally hours before the government shutdown

The CTA is “fully and entirely committed” to building the Red Line Extension on the city’s Far South Side, the agency’s acting president said, days after President Donald Trump’s White House froze $2.1 billion in federal funding for the extension.

I'm always interested in the MacArthur Fellows.

This year: a chemical engineer studying how to reclaim chemicals from wastewater, a Wabanaki basket maker, a researcher studying what forms of civic engagement are durable, and a nuclear security specialist www.npr.org/2025/10/08/n...
Thinkers, dreamers, doers: Here's who made the 2025 MacArthur Fellow list
A cartographer, a composer, a neurobiologist, and a novelist are among the recipients of this year's "Genius Grants." Each Fellow will receive a no-strings attached award of $800,000.
