New from me! Chicago has far too many bus stops to provide efficient service for its riders—nearly twice the national standard. I reimagined what Chicago's bus network could do to make it look like its peers.

Drawing insanity this morning—need to shift west for a more even spiral. I did one of these from memory last night and it was one of the better rides I've done recently. Would actually recommend doing this with no plan

So CTA went +44 operators on the year, hired 144 meaning they lost a clean 100 to turnover. When CTA staff testified at city hall, they stated the industry standard hovers at about 10% turnover. It should go without saying that this turnover rate is much, much higher.
At the CTA, we thank our riders and employees for your tremendous support and feedback in 2025, and we are laser-focused on providing you with a great travel experience in 2026.

Was very happy to talk to Block Club about 18th & Wabash. Some of my words:

“The goal of a protected intersection design is not to improve traffic. The goal is to save lives and create a safer space in an urban environment.”

Funnily enough, I checked in with CTA and they're actually urging Chicagoans not to be alone with Ald. Jim Gardiner after dark.
Ald. Jim Gardiner urged riders not to use public transit after dark, but data shows CTA crime is down. blockclubchi.co/49ddyCb

Coal plants already got a free pass from Trump to keep dumping toxic waste into unlined pits. Now, the EPA wants to keep them polluting even longer.

I got a small sampling back of the record that were tied up in my lawsuit and all I got say is jesus fucking christ no wonder they didn't want anyone see. I cannot put into words how bad this is looking in retrospect. I genuinely do not know how we are going to be able to rebuild the Forest Park BL.
New from me! The hidden costs of CTA's $5.75B Red Line Extension. A story of forgotten finances, risk, and opportunity costs.

Friends, I bring good news. We have successfully NIMBY'd a car wash at Western & Belmont.

Alderman Martin filed a zoning application to change it from Manufacturing to Mixed-Use in November.

Developer applied for car wash permit in December, and the Zoning Administrator blocked it!
This is a very important bus and bike corridor. We need to fight against by-right car wash development. No new curb cuts!

TIL the feedstock for PET (#1) is a byproduct that natural gas companies are desperate to get rid of (they have no use) so they price it dirt cheap. This makes recycled plastic 2-3x more costly to produce. Potential solutions are in the video youtu.be/325HdQe4WM4?...

We describe the very important equity project of the Red Line Extension that will bring important benefits to the majority Black South Side but explain that future time benefits do not fully repair harms from decades of waiting. We draw from 132 interviews on the far South Side of Chicago.
