I am writing a book about the history of the clubs that women motorists have set up for themselves worldwide from the 1890s to the present day.
If you or your mum etc were ever in such a group anywhere in the world I would love to hear from you.
Here are some of the badges of UK clubs:
Essex Ladies' Motoring Club badge Guild of Lady Drivers badge Women's Automobile & Sports Association badge The Women Drivers Association badge

All set for increasing sea levels.....😉

A recent 'improvement' was to close down the old public conveniences near The Bridge & replace with a modern block a goodish walk away. On a recent visit only ONE of the cubicles in the new block was working.
UNACCEPTABLE for such an important visitor area, not least for cruise liner passengers etc

Pennington was one of the early women pioneers in chemical engineering mentioned in my book. Anyone who wants a pdf of it, please DM me with an email address.

I have been diagnosed with T2D so told to eat almost no carbs. Oh, I thought, that means no rice, wheat, tatties etc. How about if I make flat breads from chickpea flour? Only it turns out that chickpeas have nearly as much carb as wheat flour.....

‘Looking for women math majors.’

In spring 1942, with a shortage of trained men, Kay McNulty from Creeslough, Co. Donegal, was hired as a 'computer' to perform ballistics calculations at the Moore School, University of Pennsylvania.

Hyndland Road is the only place I can think of in Glasgow where it might fly.

I hope you arent implying that Greggs workers are not skilled artisans?🤣😉
ninabake2.bsky.social
I read about this in yesterdays Scotsman and thought the guy has a very high bar to jump to do better than Greggs or anyone using Morton's Rolls. But perhaps Stockbridge is the natural home for such a 'coals to Newcastle plus ponce' effort.
I note he isnt trying this on in Glasgow 🤣

The only solution is to move to Scotland where the majority of our pre-1910 housing has room heights of 10-12 feet.

I was thinking of such a map and so glad you had a stab at it. The tour is madness. Either he has his own private plane or he has his own private plane. I dont think this could work by eithe car or train.

Absolutely. I will nudge MOH.
ninabake2.bsky.social
SBJs remain largely a mystery to me even after 40yrs with MOH the birder. He is incredibly patient with my utter failure to master identifying most of anything that is not a seabird.

When we moved to Cathcart in 2012 we saw housesparrows across the road but never here for several years. But eventually they overcame their famous territorial shyness to try our front garden feeders and now we have them all over our garden.

I am REALLY looking forward to the 'How did we do' survey email from John Lewis's white goods dept.
I spent 33 mins on the phone today to order a cooker. Most of that was spent listening to long periods of silence while the 'sales' person did something unknowable.
They dont deserve the sale really.

I think my favourite aspect of modern life is receiving three follow-up emails asking “how did we do? DON’T FORGET TO RATE US” about an order that hasn’t yet been dispatched.
ninabake2.bsky.social
Ta! Maybe we will see them in our garden and perhaps even ring one.
