The Manuscript of the Week is RIA MS 23 P 2, Leabhar Mór Leacain/the Great Book of Lecan. Compiled in A.D. 1397-1418, it contains a large amount of genealogical material, as well as historical, biblical and hagiographical material.

This is true at parties, it’s true at pubs, it’s true of talking to close friends, it’s true of talking to family. Obviously I don’t read verbatim but it is a good reminder that a) these tales were designed to be heard by audiences and b) they’re very good at playing to the strengths of that format.
