The fact that accommodations are gated the way they are is just patently absurd. I taught middle school special education and had to repeatedly force teachers to follow through on even the most simple accommodations like printing out papers at a larger font size—as if it was a major imposition 🙄.

I still think it's fair to say Chicago and Illinois have done more than any other state/local government to oppose ICE activity. You won't ever find me defending police action against protesters, though.

Yeah. "Know your enemy" is my big thing here—and holding local officials accountable to what they *can* do will get us farther than holding them accountable to what we *wish* they could do—even when that wish feels entirely morally justified.

I should clarify that *I'm* not an expert here either, just a Minneapolis mom with a political science degree, many years of trying to make sense of why the government is like this, and worries that not understanding how it works ultimately harms our efforts to oppose things like this.

We can engage in legal opposition to ICE activity as a state, and provide legal assistance to those who are targeted. We can't however, deploy state personnel to directly interfere with ICE carrying out their activities.

Chicago and Illinois are a good model for what *can* be done here.

We can, for example, hold Saint Paul PD responsible for their actions and the way they supported ICE activity in Saint Paul. We can't, however, have Saint Paul PD etc. directly interfere with ICE activity.

I’m tall—6’ 1”—so I always try to stand off the sides of the crowd, along walls etc. It’s not hard at all and I still get a great view. But this managed to happen *twice* to me last night. I just don’t get the complete unawareness/disregard.

Not cringe: Being tall.
Cringe: Being tall and literally shoving your way through the crowd to then stand directly in front of a group of other people who were there before you.

Not cringe: Singing along to your favorite songs.
Cringe: Shouting along to your favorite songs, right in someone else’s ear.

It was a very good concert, with lots of cool people—and a handful of people who deserve to go straight to hell for their crowd behavior crimes.

Any rental property with uncleared sidewalks is fair game for reporting without any warning, imho. Same with businesses. The city hands out warnings the first four or five times anyway.

It’s the worst, really. I could absolutely do with seeing Deadbolt played live a couple more times.
